I lowered my cholesterol with South Beach Diet!

  • I am ecstatic! I had my annual Healthscreen at work on Tuesday and I'm happy to report the results. I have struggled with my cholesterol the last two years since going through menopause. I always used to run low, really low, like less than 160, but it's been over 200 the last few years. I can only blame it on menopause, because I really hadn't changed anything else. I started SBD the first week in January so I've been following it about 7 months now. I have lost 24# on SBD. My weight is the lowest it's been in 27 years -115#. My cholesterol was 184 (Yeah). My HDL's (which have always been good) were 87 (excellent). My waist is 25", 5" smaller than when I started SBD. My body fat was an amazing 17.6%.

This was my confirmation that this really is the healthiest way in the world to eat. I have many friends and co-workers who ask me how I've done it and want to know more about SBD. Several have even read the book and started to eat better. When I weigh in once a month at WW (I'm a lifetime member) the lady weighing me always asks me what I'm doing. Last time she said she was going to have to check out SBD. I am really over the moon about this! I continue to lose weight on this diet without even trying, so I know I could eat more but I honestly feel quite full and satisfied with my current regimen. I cannot fit into my size 6 clothes anymore and have had to buy size 4's this summer. I could not have been as successful with SBD without the ongoing support and info that I have found on this forum. Thanks to everyone!

  • Those are WONDERFUL changes! Congrats!

I had my cholesterol checked a year ago, and it was very high - 219 overall. Ouch. I plan to have it checked again in February (2 years since the last check).

I had the cholesterol checked in February 07. I quit smoking in March 07 and haven't touched cigarettes since then. I'm down about 15 pounds since then, and plan to go back at my goal weight as a non-smoker, and pray that I have as great of results as you've had!
