Flying to Maui Tomorrow

  • Eeeek

I'm a little nervous about flying. My DH has been acting all macho "if the plane goes down - you die... no way around it" Now I'm finding out that him saying that means he's more terrified about flying than I am!!!!

Any suggestions for DH and I?

Here's our plan for the week:

Saturday (arrive at 9:30 pm) = ZONK! The four hour time difference stinks as it'll be 1:30am our time... BUT the good thing is that we'll be able to hit the hay at a resonable hawaiian time - and hopefully this will help us combat the jet lag.

Sunday: most likely bum around. If we're not exhausted, we'll drive the road to Hana with inlaws.

Monday: Shop for souviners then Sunset dinner cruise (our 1 year anniversary)

Tuesday: Snorkeling (Molokini Crater and Turtle Town) - half a day event. Breakfast and lunch is provided. Get back, hang around beach then off to Fred's for Taco tuesday!! (I'll FINALLY get to try fish tacos)

Wednesday: UFO Parasailing!!! YEAH! DH and I are too heavy to go tandem... Can't wait!

    Thursday: Maui Ocean Centre

    Friday: BIL's wedding & Luau

Saturday: Bum around and get ready to head back to Calgary. We fly all night and arrive back home at 11:30am.

We're staying at the Maui Kamaole - 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen. Sharing it with mil and fil. No doors except for bathroom meaning no hanky panky while we're out there. Things you gotta miss out on when you're trying to save $$
  • I love Hawaii, it is so beautiful. Fish tacos are one of my favorites, I prefer a nice grilled or blackened fish-mahi is good for this, with a white corn soft shell with a bunch of the thinly shredded cabbage, tomatos, a bit of cheese and sour cream. My favorite local fish there is Opah.
I am also one who is nervous about flying. I now have a prescription for Xanax to take the edge off. Usually 1 taken about 20 minutes to 1 hour before take off works. I do take 2 sometimes and only once have I taken a third. It is low dose, so it doesn't make me too sleepy and doesn't stay in my body too long to ruin the whole day.
Before I had the prescription, I drank to fly! It works, you just have to be careful to not get sick from drinking...that would be horrid.
Have a marvelous time, maybe you can get some hanky-panky when they go out???
    Aloha,
    Karla
  • HAVE A GREAT TIME TAMARLYNN!

I have never been to Hawaii, both my kids have been several times!

Anyway I suggest making sure you are plenty hydrated for the flight and take water on the plane if you can.

Also take some granola bars or something to snack on...I have been on flights recently where I have almost starved because of delays and not being able to get food!

I suggest sending the in-laws on a "wild goose" chase for an hour or so

Again ~ have a great vacation!
