Did you started your battle in the 190's-220's?

  • I'm a couple pounds over 200 (not sure since both my scales are busted). I was wondering if any of the ladies that started out in the range I am in would be willing to share how many calories they had to get down to to start losing? I am averaging around 1450 and not really getting anywhere - it is weirding me out. I am eating kinda low carb, getting plenty of protein, monounsaturated fat, veggies... Walking 3-4 miles a night/4 nights a week.
    Whatcha think ladies?
  • I started out at 192 and have to eat 1800 a day(no less then that) in order to lose weight. I also walked 3-5 days a week 45mins a night. You just have to try adding or subtracting 100 calories until you find what suits you. Everyone is different!! Good Luck!!
  • I started out at 222. I'm averaging around 1450 calories now, first few weeks I probably was doing a little higher. I walk about 30 minutes 7 days a week (occasionally do walking video instead), do strength training 20-25 minutes 3 times a week. I think the strength training really makes a difference. Been going for about 8 1/2 weeks.
  • HM- I started off at 204, and did about 1700 for calories. I also did about 30 of cardio to start off with, since my body wasn't use to moving like that. I eventually upped it as I got more comfortable. I then went down on the calories, sometimes you need to eat more in order to lose. Especially if you're still in the 200's. Let us know your progress!
  • I started at 237 and probably ate 1700 - 1800 cals for the first few months.

Now I'm down at 1400-1500 cals and losing fairly well ... except that I'm not as strict as I used to be!

I also noticed that since I started eating more protein, my workouts are more effective and my weight loss seems to have picked up again.

  • My weight is a little higher than yours (started at 270) but I've eaten anywhere between 1800 and 1500 and keep loosing, but I'm not exercising yet.
  • I have a health condition that causes me to gain a lot of weight with each pregnancy, even with regular prenatal exercise and a calorie controlled diet. It also causes LARGE babies. I exercised with my last baby until I was dilated to 3cm...

I started out after baby #3 at around 233, and I lost for a while on 1700-1800 calories a day, with regular exercise. It took a few months before I needed to drop my calories.

Currently I am eating 1200-1600 a day, depending on the range. Usually on the lower end on days that I work, and the higher end on days that I am off of work. So, I guess it would average out to be around 1400 a day over the course of the week...
  • I started at 218 my calories were 1400 and still are at 174.
  • Thank you ladies, it is helpful to hear that I am not completely off base! Argh I am only losing like a pound a month it is so frustrating!
