Am I nuts?

  • Hello all,

Well, I've lost about 4lbs since I started here, and I feel like I am starting to notice a few things in my body! Everytime I do the workout video I can do it better and better, but more than that... sometimes I feel like I see things happening with my body!

It's only been 4 pounds, so I think I'm nuts! But it might be a new, more positive overall outlook since I have been eating right and exercising that is giving me a different perspective.

How long was it before you started to feel/look different?
  • When I first, first, first started wayyyy back in late 2004, I used to get super juiced with every pound I lost. When I lost my first 10, I had to break out a happy dance. I didn't look or feel different when I looked in the mirror, but the scale told a different story and so I went with that. People who hadn't seen me in a while noticed the change first. At about the 20lbs lost mark, I noticed how my jeans started gapping in the back and how my shirts were kind of billowy and even my feet got smaller. Instead of a 10, I wear a 9. I really noticed the difference when I went shopping and bought tighter clothes and discoverd a waist. I had never seen it before.

  • i started seeing positive changes on day one im a pretty optimistic person...i've only been exercising properly again for about 3 weeks and today i was like "wow, my legs are looking good!" I think its natural, and a good thing, you feel better not only because you are eating better and taking care of yourself, but because perhaps you are finally doing something about an issue that has been on your mind for a while. Or at least that is how it is for me ^_^

So you're not nuts at all
  • I think that if you are noticing changes, they are probably due to the exercise, not the four lbs you lost. I know that when I started exercising, I saw improvements very quickly, both in terms of performance and appearance.

I've heard that it is difficult to gain much if any muscle mass while losing weight. I believe that, but my muscles started looking more buff (and felt firmer to the touch) within a few weeks. Maybe they were just storing more glycogen (and water) so that they appeared larger. Whatever -- I'll take it, along with the speed up in weight loss that came along with the exercise .
  • yeh I can relate to this ... with the work out videos ... I noticed just in 3 days it felt different the first day and I thought "no way I must be nuts".... I think it is pretty likely because your using muscles and stretching muscles that may have NEVER been used or stretched prior or very minimal .. and also training your heart to work harder so your body is going to feel it and notice it ....

It was funny when I started my journey I had 1 pair of jeans ( sad to say ) but they even had started to get holes in the knees and everything from working in my garden and etc ... I just refused to buy a new pair because every time I tried I couldn't find a pair that fit me and I hated seeing what sizes I had to try on .... so I stuck with my trusty 1 pair that always fit me they were about 6 years old LOL... they said they were size 16 stretch ... but I was wearing 14's that whole time also ... so because I was starting to feel better and maybe noticing small changes and needing a nice pair of jeans not old raggy ones I attempted another pair .. and I found ones that fit !! ( it was a miracle ) and they were size 12!!! .. at that point I had lost 8 lbs ... I did drop a few more pounds over the next two weeks despite going off road on my "diet" for a few days but hadn't thought it was very much not enough to notice !! was prob around 3-4 pounds ... I had been wearing my new size 12 jeans the whole time ... well I decided to go outside and do some dirty work in my garden , so I thought I will put on my old holey ones... and to my surprise there was this HUGE bag where my stomache had been LOL I could not believe it .. sometimes It is hard to notice or feel small changes but even small changes are big ones and they are motivating !! 4lbs could certainly make a difference especially when everyones body is so different and it depends on how or where you lost it .. some ppl may never see a change from 4lbs and other ppl may notice a decent amount of change!
