My Last Diet

  • I'm 26 a guy and hopefully this is my last diet. Really I guess I could also consider it my first, as I haven't ever gone a full day before on a diet without breaking. I work full time and am in school to become a physical therapist.

I did atkins for like 3 months, but when I broke I ended up ballooning to 280, which is the most I have ever weighed. I'm down to 240 now.

I intend to follow the Fat Smashers diet. Seems like it really does teach you to eat healthy and thats what I need. I've already given up soda, but giving up my energy drinks is going to be rough (not to mention alcohol).

My first goal weight is 199. I want to be under 200. my ultimate goal is 160, well within the healthy range for my height (6'.)

I belong to a gym (haven't been in months) but that changes tomorrow. I intend to do a weight training routine my personal trainer put me on back in january and do 45 minutes on the treadmill. 20 minutes walking at a steep incline and 25 minutes alternating between a walk and run.

My short term goals for the end of august is to be going to the gym 3 times a week and still be on my diet. I have no time schedule for losing the weight and intend to let it happen. I'm not unrealistic and realize it won't happen overnight.

I look forward to seeing my progress in a year from now.

  • Hi Jeff! Welcome to 3FC. I've seen some guys hanging out around here so you're certainly not alone. Besides, these ladies are tough cookies (or um, fat-free cakes?). They're incredibly inspirational. I find a lot of strength here and just know I'm going to succeed thanks to them. Besides, I want to be the inspiration in a few months, too!

I have found that I do better if I check in here daily. When I don't it's easy to get lost in my own head and convince myself that I'm not straying THAT far off track with just that ONE snack... Seeing other motivated people helps me be motivated, too. Love it!

Good luck to you Jump in wherever. I love the 100lb club because I have about that to lose. There are a great deal of forums though.

    Take care,
    Amanda

  • I'm a guy, so, there are some of us around. :P Welcome!

If you are looking to do the walk/run thing, if you have an mp3 player, you might to try the Couch to 5k podcast–week one consists of a 5 minute warmup, 8 sets of 60 seconds of running followed by 90 seconds of walking, and a 5 minute cooldown. I just started this past week, and it seems reasonably doable!
