Ahhhhhhh weighed this morning...gained!

  • Now what??????????

I haven't done that since surgery! Not that TOM...I have been working out 5 times a week and pushing myself (thus the rock wall)...I have been eating about 1000 -1100 cals a day...What did I do differently???????

  • Ok I've calmed down...

I know that I have a huge family history of how good the "survival or starvation mode" can be. My grandmother was a meticulous woman, she was told to cut her calories to lose weight and she did, and the did again until she was eating 600 cals a day and staying 350+ lbs...At 60 years old she "gave up", let go of ever being thin again and went to 1200 cals a day...her weight plummeted to 140 lbs in 2 years.

I don't know how to continue to lose at this point but I do know that if there is a famine, I will survive it!!!

  • I'm not normally in this board but...
    Fluctuations
    Happen.

For many reasons. Even if you do everything right. Even if you're OP and there is no reason to think you would.

Breathe, my dear. It'll be OK. You've done so well, and the scale doesn't tell the only story there is to be told.
  • Ah wish I had some advice for you, but I am 9 years post op and I have regained 50 lbs over the last 7 years, and no matter what I try or how careful I am it just keeps creeping on. You have done wonderful so far, but be sure and take the 12 month window for loss and run with it! Cause it is true after 12 months your body readjusts and it is even harder to get the pounds to fall off.
  • True enough....I haven't done measurements for a while...I'll do that!

    Thanks,

    Angela
  • Could it be that you gained muscle?
  • could be muscle, I have been doing more of the weight lifting...I don't know. As Nancy has told me so often....let go of the weight scale...and I suppose I will do that and just live the lifestyle and see what happens...right?

    Thanks everyone,

    Angela
  • I am up and down all of the time. I weigh myself everyday but I know that I could be up a pound or two or even more if it's that TOM. I just let it go. It's not fun...it's just how I am. Sometimes if I think about it I probably ate something that was salty or more salty than usual.

I bet if you up your water for a day or two that weight will come off.

  • what they all said. and i'm going to add this: try tracking what you're eating for a couple of days - and the times that you eat. and then take a look at it. are you hitting your protein goals? minimizing carbs? eating every 3-4 hours [not 1 or 2, or 6-7]? drinking all the water you should?

if the answer to all these is YES, then relax. it'll come off. if the answer is NO, then it's time to tweak again. stay strong, angela - you've been doing FABULOUS, and you will continue!!!!!!!
  • dont worry, you are doing great
