A little 88 calorie treat

  • I'm posting this in the calorie counter board, as that's basically the program I'm trying to follow. I've had a lot of success with it in the past, slipped up, but now I'm back!

Anyway, I'm sure this has probably been brought up before, but I just had to let everyone in on a little treat I've recently discovered.

Has anyone ever tried Philly Swirl italian ice cups? 88 calories a piece, and they come 8 or so to a box, I believe, and they come packaged with a nifty little wooden spoon.

I LOVE these! And they get me through those days where I just gotta have a little something sweet. I don't normally gush so much about a food, but these have excited me. lol. Does anyone else incorporate these into their "not so guilty pleasure" list?
  • But I just now found the "fabulous finds" category, so now I feel dumb for posting it here. lol. Oh well.
  • don't worry i still haven't found that category
  • Yes, where oh where is that elusive fabulous finds forum? I'd love to check it out!
  • "Food Finds" is under the "food" category. You can find it here!

    Enjoy!
  • Where do you find these fabulous 88 calorie treats ?
  • I loooove Philly Swirls. Seriously, truly, madly, deeply love them. Funny, the ones I buy are 92 calories, each. They also make a pop on a stick, 48 calories and just as yummy.

The only problem with them is the amount of sugar they contain. I had to stop buying them because I am trying hard to get my husband off as much sugar as humanly possible. And I think I could use less in my life, too. I wish that they could be made with Splenda or another sweetener. That would make them perfect.
  • So I am guessing , they are in the frozen food section ? .
  • I usually get them at Wal-Mart, but I've heard other supermarkets carry them. And I was so confused before about the calories, Rain Dancer! The box itself says 92 calories, but if you look on the labels of most of the swirls, they say 88 calories. I think the cotton candy flavor is the only one that is 92 calories.

The sugar content is their only downfall, I agree. It doesn't bother me as much, but for someone trying to cut down on sugar (which, I know I should, but I'm denying that ;-), it's a bit of a problem.
  • Is this a frozen desert or a pudding ?
  • Sorry, I forgot to add that yes, you do find these in the freezer section.
They are "italian ice," similar to sorbet, I think?

You know, I never bothered to look at the counts for each flavour. I just go by what is on the box. Either way, the calorie count is low and they pack a lot of flavour for it.
