I second that. I had a friend who did one of those detox type diets (supposed to be for 20+ days). She barely lasted 10 and lost 7lbs...only to gain them back as soon as she started eating food again. She was starving the whole time and felt miserable for weeks afterwards.
I think eating clean is the best way to detox. Just from personal experience I don't know anyone whose ever done these detox diets and not put the weight back on right after. A lot of them also don't preach weight loss, just cleaning out your system. Weight loss is a side effect and not an expectation. (Though that may not be the case in what you're talking about.) Honestly, I think if you eat clean, non-processed food, drink water and maybe take a few good quality supplements (multivitamin, omega 3 oils for example) you're well on your way to "detoxing" your system without having to starve your body.
