Cardio yoga

  • I try to deduct exercise calories..so

The question I have is: I tried this program on Exercise on Demand that was called "Cardio Yoga" It was more intense than the classes I took at the gym, but didn't feel over the top. I broke a sweat, but wasn't really out of breath. On one calorie counter exercise site, they have 2 categories of yoga

    1. Gentle Yoga
    2. Vigorous Yoga

The calories differed per 30 minutes by about 120.

What exactly is vigorous yoga? Do you think that would be like the cardio yoga I explained or do you think that the cardio yoga would fall somewhere in the middle?

    Thanks.
  • It's hard to say since "vigourous yoga" has no definition, it is whatever the person saying it thinks it is. Probably they're referring to something like Ashtanga yoga which really is vigorous, and probably your "cardio yoga" is somewhere in between. Ashtanga builds a lot of muscle, not just cardio. Lot's of push-ups and such, for example.

INTERESTING! I had never heard of Ashtanga Yoga. I'm going to look into that. Thanks!
