Activity Points

  • Can someone explain the activity points to me? I'm new -- have done WW in the past but just started again. If I walk for 30 minutes or 45 minutes how many activity points would I get? Is there a list somewhere?
  • Do you have a calculator or a paperboard slider thing? Either of those will have the option of calculating your activity points for you. Or if you have a subscription to WW's eTools you can get it there too. It's impossible to say how much you would earn without knowing your intensity level - was it an easy walk, did you sweat after 10 minutes, or was it so tough that you were sweating the whole time? Also, how much do you weigh? These three things (duration, level, weight) are what goes into finding APs. I'd be happy to look it up for you for the time being if you fill in the missing stuff.

Yes, I was sweating the minute I walked out the door - I live in central NC -- and the humidity is killer here in July! I walked for 30 minutes with my dog and it was relatively a medium intensity walk (maybe 5 or 6 on a scale of 10) -- up several hills in my neighborhood! I weight 180 right now!!!! I don't have a subscription to WW etools -- too broke right now... going to try to get my sister to get me the slide thing! Thanks.
  • Ooh, this should help: I just found the formula they use to calculate activity points. You can use this in the meantime, until you get a slider:

Activity points for light intensity = [your weight] x [minutes] x 0.00023
Activity points for moderate intensity = [your weight] x [minutes] x 0.00033
Activity points for high intensity = [your weight] x [minutes] x 0.00081

You could stick those in an Excel spreadsheet if you're handy with that sort of thing, make your own little calculator.

As for your walk, it should net you 2 points. (EDIT: That's according to my slider, you are firmly in the 2 range. Using the formula, you end up with 1.7. I guess the slider rounds up?)
