Weight Plateau?

  • My experience has been that I lose weight a few weeks then I go a week or so where I maintain. In the past I was always told that my weight had reached a "plateau". I would add more excercize or make adjustments to my eating then lose more.
Now a relative who is in a weight loss club with me told me there is no such thing as a plateau
    Is this true?
I always believed that your body adjusted to decreased caloric intake then will plateau as a result.
  • I do not know what the "official" rule on this is, but I have ALWAYS experienced plateaus. AND they get worse the closer I get to goal.
  • For what ever it is worth to you ~ my doctor who knows the WW program ~ believes there are plateaus. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks. I certainly trust what my doctor says and I know I have experienced them and have also shocked my system out of them. Hope this helps.
  • keep on trudging...
Missy~ Hey! I saw one of your other posts earlier tonight... so I've already mentioned this, but I just can't stress it enough, so here goes...

Plateaus happen! All you can do is stick your tongue out at them & keep on trudging! Now I'm not an expert... a dietitian... or a scientist, but in my experience patience & determination will get you through.

    Good luck & good night...

  • Thank you
Thank everyone for your support I have found a place where I can feel comfortable!!!
I firmly believe in plateaus and now I don't feel that I'm the only one!
You have motivated me to stick this out!

  • I have been at a loooooooooong plateau I am trying to get rid of my last 8 pounds.

I am new to this forum. I diet daily and I walk 3 kms, 5 - 7 days a week.

I am hoping that when the warmer weather gets here I can ride my bike and try and decrease my food intake and get rid of the last 8 lbs.

I am happy to be maintaining my loss so far and not gaining any more.
