The past week or so, my calf muscles act like they want to cramp once or twice a day. This is just during normal work activity of standing and walking. Usually, I can stretch them and the feeling passes. This morning, both calves cramped at about 4 in the morning and woke me out of a sound sleep. A few minutes of pain and stretching got the knots out. I already do some light stretches before bed. Is there anything I can do to stop these cramps?
I use to get charlie horses in my calf muscles all the time. Someone told me that I might be low on potassium. Try eating more bananas and see if that helps...
Oddly enough, I've had more bananas this week than usual, so it seems I should more potassium that usual. I'm drinking a minimum of 85 ounces of water a day, sometimes more.
I wonder if cold temperatures might have anything to do with it? It's been cooler the past few days (after a 90 degree heat wave last week). Maybe I've been cooling down too quickly after exercise.
