Sunday

  • Today is suppose to be my sleep in day. Getting up at 6 is later than my normal 4:30 but it is earlier than I wanted. Oh well
Nita I liked your thought for the day. I am going to our workshop this coming Saturday. I mailed our area captain a copy of our by-laws and circled sections I wanted to know if they can be changed. I sent her a stamped return envelope. Our by-laws have never been gone over the way they are supoose to be. My first meeting will be going over them so I want to know for sure what I can and can't do.
Did they talk about the on line memberships ?? Hope things go ok with hubby. You are doing good to be losing. I probably would have gained a ton by now.
It is suppose to be a nice day again today. I went in the pool for first time yesterday and it was great. Now I can add laps. Altho I don't swim hard enough for weight loss. I do enjoy going in it everyday.
Hubby is working again to day so I will have a chance to finish what I did not get done yesterday.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
  • Good morning ladies.
Eleni-I know how you feel about sleeping in. Yesterday we were up at 5:30. It is some sleeping in, we are normally up at 3:30. A lot earlier than I wanted too. We weren't sure what time Brandon was up. Could of been around 3:30, cuz hubby let the dog out and brandon woke up. I didn't hear anything till 5:30. Anyway, yes the Gazell is the "tony little" thing. My mother in law bought one and my hubby had tried it. He liked it better than the treadmill because he has a disk problem, I have a back problem too. We thought that he would get more use out of it, and that it was lower inpacked. However, after reading some stuff from Oprah show, it isn't as areobic as some of the other stuff. The walking. However, I'm looking at it like this. Some is better than none. If we get some of it off, the walking part will come. Also, it's almost bike riding time. I'm weigh behind on my miles to St. Ignace, no treadmill for two weeks now, so I'm ready. My body sure can feel the lack of the exercising.
we went to the movies yesterday, and saw Ice Age. It was ok. One of the little boys fell asleep. Then we went to Ceaser land. That was fun. Then we decided to do the grocery shopping on the way home. I bought my whole wheat flour, and that was about the only whole wheat stuff I could find. So i'm debating on going to a place in ann arbor, or just order online.
I hope everyone is doing well
Lara, Nita, Sherri, Christie, Bev, CC, CoCo, Mickey, Summer. How is everyone doing. Well everyone take care and talk to you soon.
  • Hi Everyone,

Eleni.....They didn't go over the by-laws yesterday. They talked some about the treasurer and getting audits done. And they answered a few questions. They didn't bring forms for us to pick up. They gave out awards to the weight recorders that didn't make any mistakes on their resume, and played some games. I believe they mentioned that you can join on line now, but didn't go into details about it. And they did break up into classes.
The by-laws are the first thing that we are going over also. We haven't updated them in 2 years and the new members don't even have a copy, which is not good at all. I'm told that we can change the things with a *asterisk next to them.

Not much going on today. I think that I will relax today.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

    Todays Thought
If you think you can....you CAN.. If you think you can't, you're right.

  • Eleni,

It must be good to be able to get in the pool. Yesterday it was only 35 here and the wind was blowing terrible so it was more like in the 20's. That is great that you are adding laps to your exercise. Good for you. Even though it is not highly aerobic you are burning calories doing the laps. So don't think it won't help. Any exercise will help.

    Wendy,

I ordered online. It is actually cheaper then buying in the store. I am actually going to cook dinner tonight. I will use the WW angel hair pasta that I bought online. I am looking forward to it. Let me know how you like the fitday site. I had signed up before but never did anything with it. I did find that I have to put in the foods I eat with the nutritional info so that it is accurate. They don't have a lot of items that I normally eat. This way if I put in the foods and the info I know the calories will be right for the day.

    Nita,

I love your sayings for the day. They are great. Are you taking them from the list you sent me. I don't remember all of the ones that are on the list. They are so encouraging. You are doing great. I hope that your husband makes out okay for his testing. You make sure you reschedule your yearly.

As for me. I am happy because the scale didn't go up after eating at mcdonalds yesterday and having the bannana bread I made. But that was all I ate all day along with the 30 min of aerobics. So that was a good thing.
I did exercise again today and I am really motivated this week and I will be looking for a loss this week for sure.

You all have a great day.

  • Hello everyone,

I wanted to pop in and say hi. I will try to be here more often. I get so wrapped up in things and should come here too.
Thanks to everyone for the replies about the roll call. I basically had decided to resign as leader but will still take some time to think about it. I don't mind the questioning but....I don't like the way they did it.
We are still working on our by-laws. I haven't been getting a lot of help and I just can't do it on my own. The executive that was originally in.....they hardly come to meetings anymore. I have felt somewhat overwhelmed with the work and I know it shouldn't be like that. My job isn't to do everything but that is what it has been like for most of the last 6 months. I don't have a problem with delegating but there isn't anybody to delegate too. Sometimes when I have asked for something to be done...I have to keep after the person to get it done. Sorry I seem to be down but it hasn't been a good week.
To add to my bad week...we got a call from my step-daughter's grandparents this morning. She just turned 22 and lives in Ontario. She was out over Christmas and went home early because she didn't feel comfortable here. She is not a happy girl and we don't know what we can do for her. I would like to ask for some prayers for her and us. The call we got this morning was that she is in hospital because she tried to commit suicide on Friday. My husband phoned her on Friday and he said she sounded drunk or stoned and she said she would call us on Saturday because the police were at the door. Apparently.....her roommate tried to commit suicide on Friday too and they did it because the families were trying to separate the two girls. I don't think they should be together either. They both have too many emotional problems and they can't get on with life. I don't know how they survive....they have their own apartment but they don't work or go to school. It upsets me because I feel my stepdaughter is throwing her life away. She has had so much counselling and in programs and I don't think anyone knows how to help her. She is very smart and could have done so much (she still can if she gets things together). Anyway...if you could say a prayer for her....it would be great.
On to TOPS things.....I have really appreciated the ideas that have been mentioned here. I am really trying to get our chapter motivated.
There was talk about exercise. My friend said in a book she read that "the walking we are doing at lunch isn't helping us to lose weight" so we had a discussion about that. My feeling is anything that gets us moving is worthwhile. It isn't like running a marathon or really dancing or heavy exercise but I think it is still good for us. We usually walk about 45 to 50 minutes at lunch. We don't usually break a sweat but we have to go back to work and can't shower so I don't want to get too sweaty.
The weather is still cold here and snowy. It makes it hard to get the dogs out but it is good for all of us to go.
I guess I have written a book and should go. Hope everyone has a great day and will post more often.
    Take care.

    Marie
  • Marie,

Sorry to hear about your step daughter. Sounds like she needs to be in a more motivating environment for sure. It isn't good that both girls wanted to commit suiside.
I will say a prayer for you all.
You hang in there. Maybe you can start to motivate the group you are in and have them help you more.

    Sherri
  • Marie, Sorry you are having such a hard time.
As for you having to do everything at TOPS that isn't as unusual as it sounds. The first time I was a leader I had to do everything for same reasons as you. This year I have so much help I am thrilled. Everyone that I have asked to do something has been very willing. A big change for me. I will still be doing more than I should but I have some good help so it won't be so bad. I think of you often.
