I'm new here, looking for support!

  • I'm 21 years old, living the typical life of a 21 year old here in California. I just moved out, into my own place - I go out when I can but not on a regular basis. Im energetic, outgoing and fun, also active however - im a slave to food, especially "bad food" sour cream, cheese, bread, cheeseburgers, taco bell, in and out etc ... you name it! I stock up on rice krispy treats, fruit snacks, pringles, soda ... You see where i'm going. I currently weigh 215, and I am 5'4, I want to change so badly, It's hard for me to just give up all my foods right now, right away. Anyone hear me on this one?

Food has some how taken over me, even when i'm not hungry I fool myself into being hungry and eating. I eat when i'm bored and i'm bored a lot. I don't eat when im busy though, I have bad eating patterns, often I will not eat breakfast and wait till around 4:00 or 5:00 PM to eat - I know this is bad, and when I do eat breakfast, I notice I don't get hungry so fast.

Anyway, that is me! I do love my life, however I would appreciate myself and have so much more confidence if I could lose 50LBS.
  • you need to stock up on healthier snacks! fruit, 100 calorie packs(if you need th sweet), yogurts. You can eat out but need to make better choices, chicken and no fries. Good LUck
  • Welcome :-)
  • . . . glad you found us.

Try replacing one bad food a day with one good one . . . after a few days/weeks; your diet will be very much healthier and you'll problably start seeing changes in your weight, too.
  • Hmmm....bored? Sounds like an excellent time to take a short walk.... Get your mind off of the food. Try logging what you eat without changing anything for a few days. I find calorie counting to be quite enlightening. That cheeseburger doesn't look so tasty when you realize is has like 1/2 a days calories in one sandwich.

Such an exciting time of life - think of it as a great time to build new healthier habits now that you are out on your own.
