7lbs to goal and disapointed...

  • I had set my goal weight to 130lbs....I am now 7 lbs short to that goal...And sadly I still have lots of fat around the lower part of my stomach...and lots around my hips. The rest of my body is fairly small....And I was so proud for being so close to my goal.....I now believe that I still have 15 lbs to lose....in order to look more of less like the picture I have in my head... Anyone else experienced the same thing as me???
  • Well . . . things could change over the next 7 pounds and over the next few months. Unfortunately our bodies don't always react on the timetable we'd like them to follow. What kind of lower body exercise (muscle toning stuff) have you been doing? Give yourself a little time at your 130 goal, before you determine that you need to go down further.
  • who,
just curious..how long did it take you to lose the weight? I have about 20lbs and it is coming off slowly.
  • I agree with meowee that you should hang out at your goal weight for a bit, testing it out and seeing how you feel. You could try and target your problem areas with specific exercise and see what happens.
  • You should be very proud of your self -- look how well you've done and how far you've come!

It's unfortunate that the numeric goal you picked doesn't match the body image you had in mind. But you are at a healthy weight and it sounds like you have a pear shape, so that is healthy too.

I agree that you should give your body some time to adjust and maybe the lower regions will even out a bit. I tend to lose weight "top down" myself, so I will have to do the same thing. If the lower levels remain recalcitrant, then maybe a different workout or food choices or other changes could help with those problem areas.
  • 7 lbs in still a good chunk when your little so you might be pleasantly surprised by the change when you get there. But if not, you can lower your goal. I had wanted to get to 110 for a long time and as I got closer I realized the same thing as you, now I think 105-108 might be a better fit.
  • 7 pounds should make quite a difference since you don't weigh much.
But you can always adjust until you feel comfortable. I'd try not to worry about it until you reach the goal you have now.
  • Do you exercise a lot? More specifically do you weight train? If you are still feeling flabby maybe you should add some weight training. It's really teh best exercise to get your body re-shaped...
  • I was going to rec the weight training too. Even if it is light weights. I don't go overboard in the weight lifting/exercises dept., but do do it at every gym visit. You may be Surprised at how you'll look when those last 7 lbs. do come off, esp. if you tone or pay attention to certain areas more so now.
Be proud at what you have lost already! That is a Great Accomplishment!!
  • 7 lbs makes a huge difference when your little. i'm 5'1 and still need to lose 7 out of the 10 that I gained back last year and it makes a huge difference on me. I believe that 7 lbs on a short person is like 20 lbs on a taller person. Lose the 7 that you originally planned and then see how you feel.
  • I say you have done a awesome job keep on going! even if you go below your goal wright who cares if you feel you look good and your happy with it ( and your healthy of course)

and I agree with everyone who said to try and up your strength training and stuff ( if your not already) because even if you lose all the weight you may be envisioning that "toned" shapely type body which you wont see from just dropping the pounds alone ... alot of time when you tone and firm things it looks as though you dropped another 15 lbs even though you haven't ! lol

you have made a great accomplishment! so no matter what just remember how far you have come
