I HAVE to start exercising again. I lost 50 lbs before my pregnancy, keeping 20 of it off. But now, post delivery I have gained another 16. I need to buy a really good fitness shoe for ... big and wide feet - approx. size 10 1/2 wide. I have done some research on the MetaTreks but I can not find a site that sells them. Anyone have any ideas on that one.
I have read some info. on the MBT's but they are priced at $244.00 on Amazon - thats a little outrageous for a shoe.
I really need an excellent shoe, my feet hurt so bad in the mornings and when I get up after sitting for more then an hour, I can hardly stand.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

New Balance is made specifically for women and they have a really wide range of shoes at pretty reasonable prices for workout. I suggest trainers unless you really like to run outside. They offer fantastic arch support because they're made for girls, and I have really flat 9.5 feet.

I have mizuno's and I love them! I have an insanely high arch and instep and these provide great support. I think mine were 120 which I didn't think was too bad considering how much better my back has been feeling with them.

So my adidas pretty much broke my feet, my Nike's aren't helping out much at all - and after the several weeks of limping I decided to take a poll amungst all my physically fit friends - who all unanimously decided that New Balance pretty much owned all other company brands.

I have mizunos also and I really like them too. I bought them a week ago because I needed a good shoe for running and I am prone to severe shin splints. They are helping alot. Unfortunatley they cost me $180 here in Canada.

I also have a pair of nikes but like Eskinomads experience, they are no good.

I thought I had runners all figured out. I'd worn Avias for yeeaarrs .... however I tried a Running Room. The fellow watched me walk, measured my feet, looked at my old shoes .... Well worth the trouble.

A year ago I would not have but now ... I recommend a good, personalized fitting.

Go to a running store! Even if you never plan on running, the employees usually know a lot about walking shoes and cross-trainers as well.

Last time I was buying running shoes, there was a woman in the store who just wanted a new pair of sneakers for work because she had really sore feet, and they were able to figure out exactly what she needed and special order it for her.

Isn't it extremely pricey to go to a running store?

I went to one I found on runnersworld.com and they watched me walk and run, measured and made several suggestions and watched how I walked and ran in each shoe. They also had me try it out on the street and offered a 14 day full money back guarantee even if I had worn them every day outside for the 14 days! They did it all for free too :-) I just paid for the shoes--$120 which was the norm for the ones I got when I checked other stores.

I wear this size and LOVE most NB running shoes.
Right now I'm wearing 8507's and I am SO happy with how they've held up so far and mostly how they feel. I've recieved many compliments at the gym and people asking where to find them.

I think the Asics I bought at Running Room were $130. But now that I know what to get, I've found them at half that.

I really recommend going to a running store. At first I thought that they were too expensive, but after going to one to get my shoes, the trip was well worth it. The shoes that I purchased (Brooks for $120) allow for my feet to swell (they will swell when you run!) and give me the right support. My feet do not hurt, my back does not hurt, and my knees are getting much better. Just being able to live my life after my morning run is well worth the extra $$

I have new balance walking shoes... I dont remember what number they are but they are insanely wide and flat soled (I have really bad balance) they arent running shoes.. and they actually look really ugly (compared to the pretty running shoes out there) but THEY WORK. and they've protected my knees (partially torn ligaments.. from bad balance, technique.. crappy shoes)

Go to a store that sells new balance. try on the walking, cross trainers and the running shoes. They should have something that works.
