i feel naughty!

  • Ok so I'm only on day 3 but I've been meticulous about my calorie counting and all 3 days I've gotten done with dinner and had 200 calories left for the day. One night I ate them in a spinach salad because I stayed up real late and got a little hungry again. The other 2 nights I had a 100 cal pack chips ahoy crisps and half a cup of skim milk. YUMMY!

I'm not a big sweets eater, never have been but sometimes I do crave a lil bit of chocolate and those 100 cal packs, when i feel the need are sure hitting the spot. They're so darn good I feel naughty! But I'm within my calorie range and only eat them if I have leftover calories for the night. What a way to end the day.
  • i used to love doing that,
but i found as my diet went on i needed the cals more in the day to help me when im really working hard. im glad your finding joy in your diet though :-)
  • You've got that right!!
Isn't it cool, maybe it's just a beginning thing but i've been doing surprisingly well too. Although I'm not managing those leftover calories as well as you are but i'm doing pretty well. I had a dip with apples that i give my daughter to get calcium and protein in her. After figuring out what was probably in the dip calorie wise i realized i'd gone over my limit by 46 calories but i see this whole thing as a work in progress and i'm striving to be gentle and patient with myself. So i'll need to make some adjustments to the recipe: lower fat and calorie yogurt, less peanut butter, but i think it's workable.

Congrats on your progress so far. Wouldn't it be nice if this calorie counting, setting reasonable limits on our eating behavior, became second nature and those treats like you described having tonight are really enough?

I've no doubt that there are plenty of challenging days in my future calorie counting but i think as i mosey on down this road that i'll tweak what i eat to find what keeps me satisfied and nourished and end up eating healthier and healthier in the process.

For me this isn't just about losing weight, it's a lifestyle change, getting my body back in balance by eating in a way that's so much better for my body.

Well sorry for going on. I tend to get more verbose as the night wears on.

    Continued good luck. Ailey
  • I really think that's the key to any healthy eating plan ... if you crave it, don't deny yourself, just have it in moderation! I almost always want something sweet after lunch and used to head to a co-workers desk for a handful of hershey's kisses. Now, when I have that craving, if I give in, I only have 2-4 kisses. 4 kisses = 100 calories and its just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Isn't it great to be able to indulge occasionally though and not beat yourself up over it?
