  • Hi...
I still like my tuna, and chicken salad. I load it up with veggies etc. I don't use much, but I haven't found a mayo or mayo replacement that doesn't leave an after-taste or tastes horrible to begin with.... any ideas...
  • Have you tried Hellman's Dijonnaise? It's a Dijon mustard-mayo combo that's only 15 calories per tablespoon. I think it works really well with tuna.
  • Vegenaise is DELICIOUS!
  • I like Nasoya fat free vegan mayonnaise, 10 cals per tbsp. Also plain lowfat yogurt works well at 7 cals per tbsp.

For flavor, I add dijon mustard, basil, lemon juice, and a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • You don't have to eat mayo if you don't like it. Why not use a olive oil and vinegar dressing on your tuna instead?
  • Good point Zenor. Avacado also mixes well with tuna.
  • I understand where you are coming from. I have always used Helmans (real mayo) but since I have switched to the reduced fat one I have found that if I add a little salt to it, I don't miss the real mayo taste as much.
  • My husband likes to use Hidden Valley Ranch Light (not fat free) instead of mayo. I usually use half regular Hellman's and half fat free sour cream, or I also like homemade or bottled light italian or vinaigrette dressing.
  • Yup... I love my mayo, but its gotta go-oh (sorry i'm tired)...
    good options... thanks friends...
  • I don't really care much for mayo but I bought some for a recipe. I bought Nayonaise which is pretty good (kind of like miracle whip) and fairly low calorie.
  • I think most reduced fat and fat free mayos are hideous, so I prefer to use smaller amounts of the "good stuff," and then dilute with skim milk, fat free sourcream (which I do like), rice wine vinegar, dijon mustard, horseradish, or even water.
  • Try cottage cheese, and I've seen recipes for tuna salad that use tomato paste or pasta sauce, if that appeals

    I couldn't agree more!

I also use pepperoncinis in my tuna salad and use some of the juice to make it more 'wet' if you know what I mean...

What about miracle whip light/ Fat Free?
  • I'll add another vote for Nayonaise. The brand is Nasoya--it is a soy-based mayo. It comes in regular, dijon, and fat-free varieties. It's much lower in calories but with the same texture and no aftertaste (for me, anyway). Nelie and I must have night and day taste buds because I would never compare it to Miracle Whip but I agree that it's a good mayo substitute
  • *raises hand for Nasoya mayo!!!*

I love that stuff. I much prefer it to all of the other mayo substitutes... the others are often too salty or tangy.
