surprising comments from two guys

  • Hi everyone

I guess this is a little off topic, but I found it very interesting.

Last Friday night our friend Chris was over our house. We were discussing a mutual friend, Sue who is expecting her first child. Chris has not seen Sue while she's been expecting. He said "it will be easy to notice, she's usually such a stick."

I thought that was an odd way for a guy to describe a very slender woman. (and not very flattering, either) I asked my husband about it when Chris left. He said Sue is very pretty, but "has no body." He said he likes women with more curves. (well, I certainly have enough!).

I had thought guys liked very slender women, and was surprised to find that's not always the case.

Any thoughts? Just thought I'd share.

  • My hubby thinks most women who are slender are completely ugly. When the girls on the tv show 'Friends' were stick thin they didn't look pretty at all and my hubby has never thought they looked very good. Calista Flockhart he thinks is some kind of freak. Men don't want women that are so thin that they have no body. Men look at women's body parts (not that this is always a good thing) and if you are stick thin then there is nothing to look at or (sorry if this is disgusting) grab hold of. Hey this is the truth. The rock band Queen said it best in their song Fat Bottom Girls, we make the world go round!
  • I am friends with alot of men, and I have many men relatives that am close with. Alot more than half of them prefer women with some meat on their bones. I was surprised too when I realized the thin model types or even the thin ones with no curves weren't a turn on to most guys. They want something to hold and grab. They don't want to "break" their women. I've noticed too, the few men that I have known that loved only super thin women, had alot more baggage than me.

I love men and men love me and my cures! LMAO
  • Still so much to learn about the opposite sex
Just to let you know, my husband also feels the same way. He says there is an un-mistakeable beauty in the curves of a woman. Hips that curve he says are very sexy. I can tell you one of the benefits from losing weight is the way he touch has changed. I asked him about it because to be honest it was troubling me. His response, "The confidence you are gaining is what is sexy, very sexy." So ladies, there are many unseen benefits we get, so much better than others.
  • It really doesn't surprise me that most men don't like the looks of skinny women. I feel the same way about skinny men. Give me a man with broad shoulders and some meat on his bones. I don't think looks are nearly as important to men as we sometimes think they are. I think especially when they are looking for a serious relationship they look at the total package before making a decision.

  • I'm a guy and I really dislike slender ladies
My friends and I joke about this all the time. Hollywood is of its rockers when it comes to presenting women. I really don't like Alley McBeal at all its way too pretentious and not funny, but even if I did like it, watching the main character almost makes me want to puke literally she is so skiny. Or Laura Flynn Boyle.eeewwwwwwwwww. Very lovely face but she looks frankly like a 12 year old boy. Hey its just biology with me but curves have gotten me going since I was in my teens. Viva la difference.

I have really no explanation for hollywood but in the real world most guys I know want curves. We also want fitness though. Being overweight is not attractive to most guys no matter what most of the people were posting in the being single thread, I thought most of those posts were wishful thinking or a different reality from the one I have observed and know from my friends which include a lot of guys....like the 7 out of 10 guys are still interested in me post.

However I didn't think it was a secrect Hollywood was nuts on the slender issue. But its spilled over to things like the Miss America pagent. Again lovely faces but it looked like a bunch of 12 or 13 year old boys, oh yeah that's going to get me going, give me a break.
  • Thanks for your insight. I do dream of bein slender but know that in reality curvy is what i will be. It is good to know that a real man likes curves! (Hey I lift weights is that good and athletic?? ) LOL
