I saw a chicken recipe on this site under the recipe section that calls for 1 cup of ketchup and a can of diet cola simmered over chicken. I am intrigued. Has anyone ever tried this, does it taste any good. I would hate to waste the chicken if it is gross. Please let me know.
i haven't tried it but it sounds like it would probably taste alot like barbecue chicken. you might want to add some onion and garlic to it and maybe a little red pepper flakes if you like your bbq spicy. if you try it, let us know how it ocmes out.
I have made it before and it is a lot like BBQ chicken. It is really good - my kids and husband liked it too. I usually make rice with it and put the chicken and sauce over the rice.
I've made it twice before. It is definitely good. It makes a great sandwich! I cook mine with little sauce so that there is none left over (so it's not "wet") and put it in a pita for lunch. Yuum.
I love it. Though I always do add sliced onions and garlic, and sometimes green peppers.
Another good combination is orange soda, catsup (in equal parts) a tablespoon of soy sauce, sliced onions sliced bell pepper, and red pepper flakes or a bit of cayenne.
I use it for lean pork chops also. I've used the recipe on the stove top in a deep skillet, in the oven in a casserole dish, and in a crockpot with chicken pieces or a pork roast. Though in the crock pot I use less soda. Instead of equal amounts, I use about twice as much catsup as soda.
