Falling off the wagon

  • So I started LA in October 2007. They told me I would lost the weight on February 22nd (from 186 to 135) which I was skeptical of but still pretty excited. Everything was going well for the first week, I lost 2 pounds a week but after that, I started going off track. I love carbs and I refuse to buy their products which made the plan difficult. I don't think the plan is working for me, I'm constantly bored with it and it restricts my favourite foods. I'm depressed because I dropped a grand on it and I was hoping to lose the weight by summer.
  • Well, It all depends on what you want to have happen.

If you continue on the path of sitting around eating your favorite foods. Well we all know what the leads to. The astonishing realization that you can weigh even more than you ever imagined possible, since there is no reason at all that you won't blow right through 186 on your way up to 200 and beyond.

To be thinner you have to make a lifestyle change. That most likely means limiting how much you eat of fattening foods. You need a plan to do that, and you need to follow it for a long time. Even the rest of your life. If you don't do that, you can lose, but the weight will come right back on.

Sure the Feb 22 was probably wildly optimistic, but hey some people do that, but they are the expception rather than the rule, many more people struggle as you have. So the councelors likely have seen this every day and will work with you. If they don't help you to do better, then find some other plan that you can live with. It just seems to me that you've paid for the support, you should use it to your advantage. Believe me, a measly 180 pounds is nothing to those gals. They are likely weighing in people with much bigger weights than yours every day. A couple days back on plan often gets you close to where you were when you went off.

You can do this if you want to. The opportunity is there...
  • Hiding from your counselors will not change the scale.

Eating your favorite foods and bad portions is what lead you to LAWL.

No one can make you do this but you. The counselors are there to help you, BUT
    (1) they can't help you if you don't come in
    (2) they can't do it for you

You need to decide for you if you are ready to lose the weight.

We all have our moment of truth when it comes to weight loss. You need to find yours. This isn't a diet, this is a healthy way of eating for the rest of your life. Remember what got you here.
  • If you are not committed 100% to losing that weight you wont lose it no matter what you do. If you decide to go back you have to committ yourself and no going off plan at all. The program does work but you have to do it, no one else can do it for you. You have to make the sacrifices. 1st decide if you really want this and how bad you want it and then go from there. GL.
  • I wouldn't waste any more time and energy feeling bad about what the LA people might think. This is about YOU, and you deserve to feel better about yourself! The cost of the program motivates me to a degree: it's wasted if I punk out, but it's worth every penny if I make progress. From postings on this site, it seems like there are some choices plan-wise, so perhaps a different one will be better. Go in with your head held high and be honest. Let us know what you decide...we are cheering for you!!
