Wheat Germ/Flax Seed "Cereal"

  • I bought a container of it at a wholesale foods place... No recipe or anything to help me make something with it.... help!

    Do I mix water with it to make like an oatmeal? How much water?

    Mix it with yogurt?

    Something else?

    I have noooo clue!
  • Try including milled flaxseed and/or wheat germ in:

    granola or cereal, hot or cold
    smoothies, health drinks, juice, etc.
    spreads, sauces and dips
    cheese balls
    salad and/or salad dressing
    soups and stews
    vegetable dishes
    fruit dishes
    rice, potatoes
    eggs (soft-boiled, scrambled, omelets, quiches, etc.)
    pasta, lasagna
    stuffing
    muffins, cookies, etc.
    yogurt
    ice cream, puddings, and other desserts

  • I use it on yoghurt only, my mum uses it in porridge, but as it's quite bland you can add it to a lot of stuff for extra fibre.
  • I had it lastnight in a fruit smoothie (milk, OJ, frozen fruit) - I didnt even know what a serving was (according to TDP it's 2 T) it was just fine! Just a tiny bit gritty, but I'm glad I bought it. I'll be trying it in more stuff later.

  • Mmm... I had some flax seed in my Yoplait Light Boston Cream Pie Yogurt this morning and it was sooo yummy, it tasted like I added crust for the pie filling I bet it'd be super good with cheesecake yogurt too!
