Bouts of Nervous Energy While Eating to Lose?

  • Hi everyone,
I am a bit of a lurker who really loves the site and am hoping that others here can address my problem. When I am not overeating and keeping myself numbed out with food I suffer from lots of nervous energy. I feel on edge all the time and cannot focus.
I have lost some weight but for many months I have plateaued because I have not been 100% with my diet each week. Now that I am back on the wagon, I feel this generalized anxiety.
Hearing from other people about how they cope with their emotions while dieting would be great and very helpful.
    Thanks,
    Pennie
  • Hi Pennie:

This isn't to dismiss your issue, but if you're feeling on edge and anxious all the time -- not just having excess energy -- maybe talking with a professional would help? Otherwise, maybe taking time to walk or move around during the day would help take the edge off? If you work in an office, for example, walking out to get your lunch, or walking before going home after work -- making a specific break between work and home?

    Good luck!
  • My hubby has found that weight lifing or walking fast really helps with his anxiety disorder. He also takes medication for it. If its an ongoing problem you might want to talk to a dr about it.
