How does this happen?!

  • Ok, so I've been stuck at 170 for, oh, weeks and weeks now. For several weeks I've dipped to 168 or so over the weekend, but got back up to 170 by Monday, and stayed there all week.

Well, this weekend was different, and it's all because of my husband and his craving for chocolate chip cookies. Grrr......

I haven't made cookies or anything in FOREVER. His mom was going to do it, but her oven was broken. So I broke down. I know they're not good for me to be around, but I like to do things to make the husband happy on occasion. So I made the cookies.

I didn't eat more than one or two small cookies all weekend long. But probably had about a TON of cookie dough while I was making them....

Come this morning (Monday) I was SURE that I'd see the scale at even higher than 170. Imagine my surprise when it said 164.8.

164.8!!! I lost SIX pounds over the weekend after eating cookie dough? How is that possible?

I'm not too excited yet...I'll weigh again on Wednesday after things have a chance to even out. But has anyone else had this type of thing happen?
  • Hey! Congrats on the weight loss... For me, the scale usually reflects my eating habits a day or two prior. However maybe that cookie dough jump started something inside and revved things up?!?

Meanwhile - Stay lean and hope that that six pounds stays away!!

  • Thanks, Marathon Mom! Maybe you're right....the extra calories may have been what I needed to get things going again. We'll see....
  • Do not measure yourself on Wednesday. You should only weigh in once a week. Anything more than that is torment for me and billions of other people. Plus our bodies react different to different things. I experienced the same thing a week ago. I had pizza and chocolate cake and imagine my surprise when I weighed in and discovered I was 5 lbs lighter? Keep up the good work. You may do yourself more harm than good if you weigh in on Wednesday. What if the scale says 176? Then what? You could possibly get frustrated and eat the wrong stuff on purpose. Wish you all the best and keep us posted.

  • I hadn't thought of it that way, onelife....thanks for the advice!!
  • You are getting close to goal and I and others can tell you those last few pounds are the hardest. I thought I would never lose those final ten pounds. They were really stubborn.Keep on doing the right thing and the weight will go,
  • I'm noticing the last 10 is wanting to stick around a lot more than the previous 50, too, Bargoo. At least I think it's the last 10. Not sure HOW much I should really weigh.
