What is the deal with women's slacks? Today I was rushing to the ladies room before a meeting and got held up fiddling with slacks that had 2 hooks and two buttons on the inside and two buttons on the outside of the waistband. Why do they do this? What kind of issues do clothing designers think women have with their slacks? Is this issue really sloved by the addition of numerous buttons and fasteners?
I guess the real question is why do I continue to buy slacks that are more complicated than a rubicks cube?

Ohh I hear you! Have the same thing and I wonder when I tried them on before buying did I even notice how annoying they actually are to put on! Perhaps I just get in such a daze when I shop. Mine have 2 hooks and two internal buttons plus the zipper, I think its to give a cleaner look having no external buttons and maybe a flatter waist?

My favorite pair which are now starting to get to big have 2 buttons on the outside and 3 hooks are the inside and a zipper. Half the time I only get 2 of the hooks undone and don't realize it until I go to pull them back up. Obviously they are getting too big.

I bought a new pair of pants for grad school interviews, and they have a really wide waistband, which I thought was cute (and it flattens my tummy a little bit!). But it also means that they have 3 buttons on the outside... and 1 button and a hook on the inside. Blah. And of course, I bought them for events where I was rushing around from 9am to midnight or later. It was a pain! I missed the bottom outside button a few times, haha.

O yes... I have to agree.. My friends and I are constantly complaining about this!! One button & a zipper is plenty... Goodness.. You have to head to the bathroom in advance to start undoing them...

I've got a pair of gray slacks that are getting big, as well...they've got the zipper, two internal buttons, two hooks and an outer, fancy little silver hook thing.

Screw the buttons, I said. I'll do the hooks, zipper and outer thing...Too complicated.

I totally relate. I also hate button fly jeans!

I used to have a pair that I absolutely loved and I literally wore it until it fell apart. But, that was in my previous life, some 11 years ago, when I was super slim and toned. I find that the buttons on the fly really accentuate if one has some additional weight. Funny that you mentioned it, because I watched something on TV yesterday - I think it was an episode of House Hunters (on HGTV) and the wife (I think she was around 30) was a tad overweight and it was funny how my eyes always landed on the buttons on her fly and I thought she would have looked better with a regular zippered fly.

I can totally relate to this and I hate it!!! I feel like a toddler jumping from one foot to the other while unzipping.

Okay, just found something more evil than pants with half a dozen buttons, hooks, latches, etc,etc,etc... A skirt with half a dozen buttons, hooks, latches, etc,etc,etc... It nice the way you have to not only fool with the buttons, but you also have to keep the skirt from sliding around or up or down. This evil must be seconded by the fitted skirt with no buttons and just a zipper at the side or back.

You know - I love a side zipper on pants over a front one, but they have one major drawback. I have to do them up by pressing my hip against a counter, then using one hand to hold the sides of the zip straight, I use the other one to pull up the actual tab. On skirts it's even worse - I've been known to pin the skirt between my knees, press my hip, use both hands and still get it twisted around. I have a couple of skirts that DH has to do up for me - I just can't do it!

My worst piece of clothing though is a closely fitted top that buttons up the back. I love it and it looks great on, but there's no way to do it up by myself. I doubt they sold many just because most people don't go shopping with a clothes do-er-up-er.
