I went to the gym today... time #1 of twelve. Then I met the dear bf for lunch and went to this restaraunt where they serve sandwiches with fries and cole slaw already on the sandwich. Luckily for me, that's about all I think I'll be eating today.

I might have a slice of toast in a little bit, but I'm restricting myself to liquids, because I have heartburn like you wouldn't believe!
This also meant my first weigh-in. Mind you that this is my first OFFICIAL weigh-in, but that I've been goofing around at losing for about three months since I joined the gym. My heaviest was when the trainer weighed me at 223.6, and today I weighed at 217. I guess that means that in 3 months, I've lost 6.6 pounds. Next week will be my first WW weigh in.
Texaslady, so sorry to hear that you're going to have surgery, but doctors are so reluctant to put people under the knife these days that I'm sure it's necessary. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, for sure.
Linda, I wish I could have a garlic garden!

Unfortunately, I'm an apartment dweller, at least for a little longer. Hopefully we'll be moving to a house, for a little while, in July. Then maybe you'll share your garlic secrets?
Jan, if I remember right, it was you who was near San Antonio, right? We may be moving back.... I just found out! We'd live in SA for August-December (Fall semester), and then move to Austin for the bf to finish his undergraduate work at the University of Texas. It's looking more and more like a real possibility, so I'm very excited, of course.
And last, but not least, a big welcome to our newest 50+er....
Angie! Join right in. I understand completely what you mean about difficulty in getting motivated. I'm 22 and live with a 21 year old guy whose idea of breakfast is Pop Tarts. Therefore my idea of breakfast is Pop Tarts. I don't want to give up my Pop Tarts. I can't motivate myself past them.

But you'll find plenty of support here and you'll do great, I'm sure.
