I joined! (and a question)

  • Hi everyone, I finally decided to join this past weekend and it's been going pretty well so far. I do have a question though. I bought some of those WW lemon snack cakes. I am using the Point Tracker to keep track of what I eat each day, so I went to enter them in and it said 1 cake = 1 point. Well, I ate 2 cakes, so I figured it would be 2 points, but the Point Tracker says that 2 cakes = 3 points.

    Can anyone explain?? Thanks!
  • Just count it as 2 points...don't add the nutritional information together and then use the tracker
  • Here's what I did
Quote: Just count it as 2 points...don't add the nutritional information together and then use the tracker
What I did was I searched the list of foods and found the WW Lemon Cakes on the list. It says 1 point next to it, but then when you change the quantity you ate to 2 cakes, it then says it is equal to 3 points.

So what I mean is I didn't enter in the nutritional info (cal, fat, and fiber). I just found the cakes on the list of foods and entered in 2 cakes.

    Thanks
  • Its probably because one cake by itself is just over what would be considered one point, so they probably rounded down. but when you add 2 cakes together that "little bit extra" adds together pushing it to 3 points total.
  • From what I understand, there are a lot of things that if you eat are 0 points or 1 points, but if you eat more, the points add up fast. So yes it is 3 points if you eat 2 cakes at once. I believe though if you ate 2 cakes at different times during the day, then they would be 1 point each at the different times.
  • Thanks
Thank you everyone, I understand better now.

As far as 0 and 1 point foods, I was shocked to find out today that 1 cup of strawberries is 0 points! I love strawberries and had 1 cup with a little cool whip. It was soooo good
  • Yes definitely take it as 1 + 1 = 3. It's the same thing for zero point foods. There does come a point where it's no longer 0 pt food. Our leader always points to FF Cool Whip. You can have a tablespoon for 0 pts but if you eat the whole container, it's no longer zero points

ALways use the nutrition label first and foremost - I have found Lean Cuisine meals in the past that had the wrong pts listed on them. Go by the nutrition label
  • Oh yeah, another caution - make sure you know what a serving size is.

The WW Quesadillas which come 2 to a package are TWO separate servings - not one serving for the box

I've also seen labels that read 3/4 of cup is a serving read your labels

A list that I have says that a cup of strawberries is 1 point.
  • Yeah, there is something up in the online calculator thing. when you search the database for strawberries there are lots of options but one is this:

    Strawberries, fresh 1 3/4 cups - 1 point.

If you select that one and change the quanity to just 1 cup it goes to 0 points.

But there is also a :

Strawberries, without sugar 1 cup 1 points

But when you click on that it says "unsweetened frozen strawberries"

I;m not sure why frozen unsweetened strawberries would have more points than fresh ones....

    ETA ---
According to calorie king 1 cup of strawberries is about 46 calories, 1g of fat (rounded up) and 3 grams of fiber.
When put into the WW calculator that gives a 0 point value.
  • I am so excited about 1 cup of strawberries equaling 0pts!
