Giving up too soon?

  • My dh and I started Atkins Diet on Jan 36th. He has lost 18 pounds, and I have lost 2. I follow the diet exactly - my test strips show I am in ketosis, I drink a minimum of 100 oz of water and I exercise a minimum of 20 minutes a day. I am beginning to think that maybe this isn't the diet for me? I am considering going back to the weight watchers program. Am I giving up too soon? I really expected more results by now.
  • Hi Heidi,

I didn't have any luck with Atkins either but when I did the CAD diet I did quite well (CAD is carbohydrates addicts diet - they have it in the book stores, paperback for about five bucks).....there are a few other plans you might want to check out.

Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone is different. My hubby can drop 5 lbs in a week just by "cutting down" and I mean he hardly changes his diet where it takes me 1 month to lose it, and I'd probably have to starve myself to lose it lololol, so you see, different strokes for different folks....men are very different than women.

Find out what your THANG is and give it a whirl. But don't give up in general.

    Good luck.
    Love Leens
  • Never go on a diet with a man. They have all this muscle mass and they drop the pounds so easily. Don't pay any attention to your DH's weight loss! You might want to try a different plan though.
  • Heidi,

Post a typical day's menu and your stats. If you don't have a whole lot to lose it could be slow going. Also, if it's TOM (time of the month) you could be retaining water.
