New mom and 60 pounds to lose!!! any advice?

  • Hello everyone! Afterchecking the website, I fell inlove with the support that everyone gives to each other.

My name is Giovanna and I'm thinking about losing 60 pounds by the end of this year. During my pregnancy I gained ~ 90 100 pounds!!!! I have never been this heavy and I only blame myself about the way I am/feel (unhealthy - heavy). I was previosly going to the gym, but because of the weight gain I felt so bad about going! ( strange isn't? I should be pround of going..not ashameD!! but looking at the almost perfect bodies made me feel ashamed of mine).
I'm going full force with this weight lose!!! I ordered turbo jam and 2 of the biggest loser workouts. I have fitness equitment at home, so I am sure I will be using it! I also started walking with my daughter everyday (when it is not raining ). I will also join baby on board dance fitness (1 day a week- 10 times) + boot camo baby and me (1 day a week - 5 times) - Both classes start in april.

I am also watching what I eat, but because I am breastfeeding I am allowing myself to eat when I am hungry (healthy stuff though..baby carrots, squares of cheese, nuts, fruits etc) - I also drink TONS of water now.

The most difficult thing for me is to manage portion control with rice, bread, pasta (I am a carbohydrates lover!!!) and to manage the sweet tooth!!!

Hopefully everything will be worth it and I will enjoy my daughter and my health!

Is anyone breastfeeding or with a newborn and trying to become healthy?
  • Welcome and good luck.
There is a book about nutrition mostly and also discusses cardio and weights.
It is a terrific book. Not a diet at all. It is about changing your habits and setting goals. Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto. You can google it online. It is a e-book. Good luck to you.
  • Hi and Your name is beautiful! I am not a mom, but I would like to wish you good luck!
  • Hi &

There's a Nusing Mom's section under Dieting With Obstacles. Looks like you've got a full load of exercise going ^^ I hope you enjoy it as you get back into a routine.

    Best of success!!
  • Welcome, Giovanna!
I nursed both my babies, and I loved it.
