I just wanted to finally post, since I've been lurking for a few weeks. I have always struggled with my weight, and have never been "thin". I am ready to change that, and realize that I need to do it for me. I feel like my weight defines who I am as a person, which is not what I want! I have began telling myself that "I am in control of me". It would be easy to blame my weight on any number of excuses, but when it comes right down to it, I'm the one that has control of what I eat, and how to change myself for the better. I feel like this is a great place to express what I'm feeling, and keep myself motivated! I'm excited to begin my life changing journey!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have signed up for the free Fit Day tracker, and I think that will help me. If I record what food I eat, I am much more conscious of what I'm eating. I just got done biking on my recumbent bike for 20 minutes. I always feel better after I exercise. Just admitting to myself that I need to do this for me, and that I'm not going to accomplish loosing weight, unless I do something about it has been freeing. I'm going to look around as some areas of the site, but you will probably see me posting more often!

I just signed on, too. I've been using FitDay and really paying attention to what I'm eating/how I'm exercising. Then I broke my leg on Valentine's Day, so we'll see how this works out. I'm supposed to be flying internationally in May, and I was using the utter discomfort of those small, small airplane seats as motivation -- and it was working, too! Darn it!

Welcome to all that are new!!!

I myself have only been on 3FC for a few weeks, but have found wisdom from above!!!! I started out cutting out fried foods and uping my vegies & fruit intake......then after posting and reading comments about calories.....I started counting calories(half heartedly)........then after reading about fitday & TheDailyPlate I started tracking EVERYTHING that went into my mouth........now I have been reading more and more about starting my exercise portion of my new lifestyle.......just start it out slow a few mins the first week then add to that as I am able........HECK since I've been able to switch so many things in such a short few weeks I know that I can start exercising too!

ALL of these things I was able to do because I wanted to do them........but never knew where to start.....it always looked like a MOUNTAIN of things I had to change in order to loose 1/2 of my body weight!!! but through these wonderful ladies on 3FC I have found nope it is one thing I change this time...........then one more.........then one more......then one more......

Here is to you newbies!!!! posting your first messages is your "one thing" now stick around and share your heart, feelings, gains, and loses!!! we are all in the same boat!!!

Welcome from another newbie! I know what you mean about 'blaming' your weight on any number of things. I have been very bitter in the past about how I was treated as a 'The fat child' in the family. I read something recently which struck a cord with me. It might not be my fault that I am fat, but it is my responsibility. (or words to that effect! from 'Passing for thin' by Frances Kuffel)

Good luck with the start of your journey, I started (again!) on Jan 7th 08 and the from day 1 enjoyed the feeling of being in control. It felt great!
