Goal Bracelet

  • So I mentioned that I was doing this in my "introduction" post, and most of my replies were about it, so I thought I'd share it with more people One of my mini-motivators is a silver chain bracelet I made (one of my new hobbies. really easy to make - just bought a length of chain, jewelry cutters, and the type of clasp I wanted in the craft department at wal-mart. could have just bought one I suppose but this way I know it will fit perfect and I have the tools to fix it if it breaks! )

ANYWHO, right now the bracelet is just the chain, but for every 5 pounds I lose I will add a bead or charm to it. I got the idea by looking at people's signatures in their blogs who will post a smilie face or other graphic for every mini goal or number of pounds lost. I figured this way, I'll have that reminder with me all the time (especially when going out for dinnner!). Can't wait to decorate it!

Hope this helps other people as well!
    Allison

P.S. I'd love to chat with more people from Iowa if there's anyone on here! So far it looks like most people are from the south or canada, lol! I love living in the mid-west and would love to share that vibe with other Hawkeyes (heck, I'll even settle for a Cyclone )
  • Awesome idea. Now I want to make one too. ^_^

I was born and raised in the great state of South Dakota. I now live in Northern VA. I loved growing up in the mid-west, so laid back, safe, quiet, and friendly. I go back every once in awhile to visit friends and family. It's nice to look up and see the stars at night - there are so many more of them out there.

Hmm...I guess if you want a less "femmy" bracelet, you could just take a piece of hemp or leather or something and tie a knot in it instead of adding a charm...not sure, haven't really worked with either of those materials and don't know if that would be considered fashionable... but it's an idea I guess!

As far as minnesota and other midwest states go, I'll take ya! I went to college in Decorah which is practically minnesota. I live in SW Iowa now practically in Nebraska. My fiance went to college in North Dakota and talks about it a lot (we're probably honeymooning there!) so it's all good!
  • That's a really awesome idea.

My sister went to Luther College in Decorah, she graduated two years ago from there. Very pretty area. We camped down there once with our whole family, dogs included, we all had a really good time!
