Meds?

  • Hello All

I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is in taking Metformin and Januvia vs taking Janumet. At work a few co worker are diabetic and some take the 2 meds and some take the one. I do know that Janumet is Met and Januvia. Why give two when you can give one. Oh, yea, the doses equal the same. Was just curious.

    Thanks
  • Don't know about individual cases, of course . . . but in general, there is more flexibility in two meds rather than the combined one . . . additionally, very often the combined med is the newer version and consequently considerably more expensive. The only time I honestly think there would be an advantage to the combined form would be for someone who has a great deal of difficulty swallowing pills or constantly forgets to take some of their pills?
