Ughhhhhh.

I've got another motivation to get the pounds and inches off before July. The bridesmaid dress manufacturer charges an extra THIRTY ($30) DOLLARS for my dress if above a 16. I knowwwwwwwww there can't be that much difference between an 18 and a 16 as far as the amount of fabric needed. It's just another little slap in the face for being a big girl.

Luckily getting to a 16 by then is a pretty realistic goal (I'll have to lose about four inches in both my hips and waist), so I'll show the man for imposing this fat discrimination on me!!!!!!!

That happened to me a couple of years back - it really sucked since I was the only one...and the news didn't come until after our fittings...in any case...at least I wasn't there to have to hear it. It doesn't feel good - but at least you have time to ditch those extra pounds - get rid of it and don't look back!

I hope you meet your goal! I'm sure you will. And that dress will look even MORE special on you because you know you lost some weight, too

Yeah... this past October I was a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding, and the dress ended up costing me $50 more than everyone else. (Also, the starting price of the dress was $297. But the fact that some people getting married expect everyone else to spend oodles of dollars is awhole 'nother topic! )

Update: I ordered the dress in a "Misses" 18, which won't involve additional cost (right now I'm a "Womens" 18. Go figure.). This will require me losing 3 inches from my hips and waist. While this could be viewed as putting additional pressure on myself, I think that is very doable between now and July. It will definitely keep me on track!

I just finished reading a book called "Confessions of a Carb Queen" by Susan Blech, confessions from a woman who got up to 468 lbs.
Susan's best friend got married, and she was the maid of honor. In order to fit into a dress, she had to buy TWO of the same dress, and have a seamstress sew them together into one big dress.
You should read her book, it's totally inspirational.

Also, I think that's a totally realistic goal by then! And ****, if by July (I think I read that's when it is?) you're smaller than that, you can have a seamstress take it in even more!!

Yeah, they put on extra charges at certain sizes, your lucky though, I've seen the cut off at size 14. Though I think they should add on so many dollars per size based on how many yards of fabric are used.

thats so stupid! the difference between a 0 and a 10 is MORE than between a 16 and 18 - if the fabric really costs that much different why dont they charge ALL bigger dresses? ie a 0 costs a 100, a 2 costs 102 and so on. it seems so LAME to make ONE size bear the brunt of all the extra fabric costs. hmph.
