So... has anyone else fallen into the media trap Cloverfeild put out?

I wanted to see this movie to see the montser that everyone talked about... but then again I didn't because I didn't want the monster to be some goofy looking thing, or worse... not a "montser" at all.

But i went to see it this afternoon and I got to say... wow

I mean.. yeah it was Blair witchy with the camera work and all.. but that was what made it so scary. We only knew and saw what the people did.

it was less about the monster, what it is and where it came from and why it is there... and more about the people trying to understand and survive one trauma after another by looking out for each other.

I got a 9/11 feeling, when that building fell and all the people ran from the wave of dust and were wandering around afterwards.
I have a feeling that this is going to be the kind of movie that a person is gonna love or hate..

Thanks for posting. Todd and I have been thinking of seeing it, but just wasn't sure if it was a Godzilla spinoff or not.

I think I'll wait until It comes to video though, unless I hear from my big bro if he liked it - Big bro, todd and I have the same taste in movies

When JJ Abrams came up with the idea for the movie, he was thinking "What would happen if I was just in the middle of hanging out with my friends and some huge monster showed up in the middle of the city? What would I do?" So it makes sense that it was more about the people.

I'm a huge Abrams fan. Haven't seen the movie yet (I never go opening weekend) but can't wait!

Blair Witch was horrible. The cameras, the plot.... everything. I hear the hand-held camera work is supposed to be better in Cloverfield than in Blair Witch.

I liked it for the most part, but I have to admit I had to close my eyes every once in awhile because the camera work was so jerky. I know that this was intentional and I really think it made the movie, but this is not the movie for those who get motion sickness.

I thought it was pretty good, minus the ending. I just wanted to know more, ya know? I wanted to know what happened to the monster, if it ever made it out of NYC, etc.

I read in an article that they are hinting to a second part.
At the end of the movie after the credits, there is this garbled radio message that turns out of say "it's still alive"
They (the creators) said that the monster was trying to get somewhere and was infested with "bugs" (like having ticks or lice) those things that fall off it.

I also couldn't stand the camera movments during some parts of the film. I had a headache by the end of it. @_@
so worth it though

I read today that the method of filming is making some movie-goers sick to their stomach. One theater suggested viewers take a dramamine before watching it.

Despite the headache at the end the movie was AWESOME!

I think there is going to be a part 2. Come on now, look at how it ended. You know how at the end it goes black like the beginning? Some guy in the movies yelled out "The end" and everyone was laughing and then the lights went on and he was like OMG I was just kidding .. what the ...?

haha so there has to be a part 2. I mean, dont all movies now a days have a part 2? haha

lol I'm the kind of person who needs things like books and movies to have a solid ending, where you know it's over. Cloverfeild didn't give me the feeling that the whole story is over, it's just starting.

I REALLY want to see it, but I have terrible vertigo, so, in accordance with numerous warnings, my fiance has forbid me to see it, for my own good. He knows I have this tendency of doing things not so good for me because I want the main event without worrying about the consequences....

Saw it today and loved it. Way better than the Blair Witch Project. I literally couldn't take my eyes of the screen and to be honest I did start to feel a little quesy during the party scene but once the action started I was to interested in the story to even notice anymore. I've been raised on bloody gory horror movies since I was 2 but this was the first movie I ever saw that made me jump and it wasn't even gory. Definately worth it and I hope there is a sequel I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the monster is.
