first time trying to lose weight after 10 years of gaining

  • hi all-

this is my first time ever trying to lose weight, eat healthy and my first time posting on a board.
until i was 21, i could eat anything i wanted and still stay thin.
i met my husband when i was 21 and with love came a sudden weight gain and it took me years to accept that i no longer could eat as much as i wanted.
we were binge eaters together but he could lose the weight with exercise.
even with lots of exercise, i couldn't stay thin.

i have a few questions for the veterans here:
    1) how do you drink all the water necessary to lose weight - 8 cups a day, i believe.
i just hate water and always have.
    is it really necessary?

    2) has anyone lost weight w/o a ton of exercise?
i am overwhelmed and exhausted taking care of my infant son and running a small business and have little time to take a shower, less exercise.

i've been so inspired by the stories of weight loss and lifestyle change here - hope i can add my own success story someday.

    thanks!

  • Hi Vera! Welcome to 3FC!

As for your water question, I personally believe it does help. I'm really not to sure exactly how it helps, but for me it makes me feel "full" so I'm not constantly eating! - I find it pretty easy to drink 64oz a day, though I've always been a water drinker, I prefer water over anything else. But if you don't like water, why not try a little lemon in it to give it some taste? Or even Crystal Light, or iced tea. - I have a water bottle that I carry around with me everywhere I go, thats 20 ounces, I just take drinks and sips every so often, and fill it up again when I'm done.
