Calorie info for deli's??

  • Does anyone know where I can find calorie information on deli's inside of grocery stores, like Tom Thumb. Ive tryed there website, but no luck. They have this vegetable lasagne I want to try it but scared about the calories.
  • Try calling the deli. If they don't make it onsite, it probably comes from a package, and they can give you the nutritionals or tell you who to contact to get them. Most places don't provide those nutritionals.

If not, you can use an average number for a piece of vegetable lasagne, but it won't be as accurate as the exact information.
  • If you're talking about a grocery store's prepared food section, my guess is that they've never down the nutritional analysis on the food they sell. So far as I know, it's not legally required and it's quite expensive, so most probably just skip it. You could ask at the counter if they have nutritional facts. If they don't, try to find a similar dish from a restaurant that has calories listed or from one of the calorie counting sites like Fitday or CalorieKing.

Edited to add: I was typing while Amanda posted and we said the same thing.
  • I worked in a Deli and we had this HUGE book of all of the nutrition facts of our prepared foods, along with all of the ingredients and everything. If you ask them I'm sure that they'd be more than happy to see if they can't find the information for you.
