New From Alaska

  • Hi everyone!
I am new to the whole diet thing. I never had to diet in the past, But Alaska's dark, cold winters have a way of packing on the fat.
I am 38 and a Grandmother as of August! I want to be a fun Nana. I don't want my Grandson to sit in my lap in a rocking chair... I want to chase him around and take him on hikes and camping trips.
At 170, you can imagine I don't move very fast. I guess if a bear ever chases me I will make a good meal.
My big idea for weight loss is the South Beach diet and cardio 7 days a week. Walking in a foot of snow is pretty strenuous.
My husband and I have a hay feild we work in the summer, but every year there is more weight to lose and I don't seem to make the mark by September. So I am already heavier going in to winter than I was the previous year.
So far I haven't had bread, rice, potatoes or anything with Starch in 3 weeks. No sugar for two, and no caffene in a week. Now I am ready to Start Phase 1 (had to make sure I could do it before I started. I don't like to fail.)
So, my goal is 140. That is still overweight for my height, But...38. I don't expect miracles.
I hope you all have a great day. I am glad to be part of the support group. I look forward to making friends.

Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can get a ticker from www.tickerfactory.com. Or, you can go to the User Cp and click on signature. They offer them here at 3FC too.
  • HI, I am new to this site and dieting as well. I wish you luck on your journey. It must be great to live in Alaska... I love snow and we rerely get it where I live. Believe in yourself and keep working as hard as you already have the past few weeks.
  • welcome dangergirl!
The grandma thing amazes me! I guess it shouldn't though. I have known a few 36-39 year old first time grandmas. Living in Alaska sounds like an adventure. I don't know if I am cut out for it but it sounds interesting to me!

good luck to you and join us on our goal threads! the current one is for valentines day.

  • Hi! I'm a fellow alaskan, so I totally understand what you're saying about the long, cold, and dark winters!
  • I'm also looking for a ticker. But when I go to user control panel, I don't see signature.
  • ticker
I lost mine somewhere along the way
  • Danger, Suzanne was forced to up the post count for tickers/signatures, because we were getting a lot fo spammers. Once you hit 30, you'll be oK.
