I had my first personal training experience...and

  • I posted this in the weight training thread but I wanted to share with you ladies as well.

Anywho, she kicked my BUTT!!! However, I loved every minute of it.

I started off running two laps around the track then on to walking lunges, bosu squats, then some sort of variation of jumping jacks b/c my big girls would have knocked me out if I did the regular version. Finally for the legs we did some thing where I straddled a set of steps and I had to jump on them with both feed then jump back down. Oh I also did sets of stiff legged deadlifts (yummy,, I love deadlifts!).

Then more laps around the track!!!

I then told the trainer about my fascination of getting a bigger butt. Sooooo, I had to do sets of doggies, some sort of hamstring curls, and kickbacks. She really pushed me with these and my form remained excellent through out these sets. For the final butt exercise I had to place both of my feet on a bosu ball while lying down on a mat and lift my butt as high as I could and lower as low as I could go without touching the ground. Then I had to do this again yet crossing my right leg over left and again with my left leg over my right.

Then more laps around the track.

On to abs!!! I had to do some sort of thing where I criss crossed my legs over each other progressively getting higher then lowering them again without touching the floor. I did this two additional times. I tried to do this one exercise where I held a yoga ball with my feet then caught it with my hands all while my feet and arms werent touching the floor. I did all of three. So we moved on to a variation of this exercise where I held my trainers ankles while lifting my feet towards my head and she pushed my feet away from her.

Finally after about an hour I was done and allowed to stretch.

Today, was the most difficult, most rewarding, most enjoyable workout i've EVER had. I can't wait until our next session.
  • Sounds awesome!! That's quite a work out! I think I would have keeled over over about the second set of laps.

I want to learn how to do deadlifts. I've read about them but I'm always afraid one of the gym-guys is gonna come correct me when I do them. And while that may be ok about a lot of exercises, I like to know for sure I'm doing it right if I'm gonna have my booty up in the air.
  • Hi Lizzie!!! For more info about deadlifts, try the link below and follow some of the links in the thread. Some of them include videos on the proper form for different variations of deadlifts.

ALSO, I noticed you're from Florence, S.C. I was born and raised there. Spent 18 yrs. there before leaving for college but I make my way back to Flo-town 4-5 times a year. How cool is this!
  • Thanks for the link!
And that is cool you`re for Florence. I'm a recent Florentinian (?). I went to usc, but got a job at the paper here in August.
  • That's so cool! I'm glad that you had such a positive experience!

I'm planning on working out with a trainer in the summer/fall when my husband is on deployment.

As is he has a meeting with "Aaron" my favorite trainer at the gym as part of his 1-2-3 fitness assessment that new members get. I'm looking forward to standing back and watching him get worked out LOL.
  • Was it just me, or did anyone else get tired reading that?! You're amazing!
  • yea, I totally did...

How awesome to get through all of that!!
  • Thanks you guys for all the kind words of encouragement!!!

Surprisingly, I wasn't as sore as I thougt I would be.
  • Wow! That sounds so awesome!

Makes me want to look into get a trainer... Although I'd have to join a real gym first.
  • Sounds like a really GREAT and TIRING workout.
  • Sounds like you had a great workout! Beware, you may not be that sore tomorrow but the next day could really be a killer. After my 1st workout with my trainer, I felt like I'd worked really hard but I wasn't too sore, the next day, I was pretty stiff, but the 2nd day after that workout, my legs felt like they were made of lead. I love having a trainer cause it definitely forces me to go to the gym and keep track of what I'm eating, and he definitely pushes me harder than I would ever push myself.
