So I'm sure everyone has seen a bit of the ruckus over how "fat" Jennifer Love Hewitt has gotten, and the pictures of her on the beach in her bikini.... OK, admittedly, she's been thinner, and by "Hollywood standards" she has a little more shape at the moment than is the so-called norm. But she's far from fat - the worst I could call her, based on those photos, is "pretty normal".
I was neutral on her before, but she's my new hero! She has handled this so well - basically saying that a) she isn't fat, b) being skinny isn't what makes someone beautiful, and c) she has more going on in her life than worrying about every last pound on her body.
This is similar, I guess, to what Tyra Banks did, God love her - went on her show in a bathing suit and said "I'm not a model anymore, so I don't have to look like that anymore, and I still feel hot".
Between these two ladies, and the shapely sex-symbols out there (J. Lo, Beyonce, for example), do you think the tide is turning away from the super-skinny standard? Will the Hollywood sex symbols begin to have a little more shape agian, like they did in days gone by? Not promoting being clinically overweight as a way of life, mind you, but relaxing the standard a bit, and accepting a more normal version of "normal"? Thoughts?
