Getting Rid of That Freshman (and Sophomore and Junior...) 15!!!

  • Hey all!
I'm J, and I'm a college senior. We're planning a big graduation vacation in May 2008, so I'm looking to finally get my eating/exercise habits in order!! I've definitely been on the "college" diet, and not paying much attention to health. My short term goal is to look cute in my bathing suit on our vacation, but I ultimately need to do a lifestyle overhaul. Baby steps, right? Hope to find some help and support for the next five months!! And beyond!
  • Hey JJNM, and

Congratulations on your impending graduation...what a great motivator to get your health and weight back on track, and you're so lucky to have decided to get this under control now, when you're young.

Do you know what kind of plan you're going to follow? You can find general support, or go to an area of the board for whatever sort of plan you're on to get more specific support.

Anyway, I'm so glad you're here - can't wait to get to know you better!
  • Hey J-
I too graduate in May and I also gained college weight! I added on about 40 lbs. in 4 years, and it is slowing coming off now that I've been working at it. I started at the end of last school year-May(actually right after final exams!)- and am still struggling with changing my lifestyle! So I guess you could say it's taken me 8 months to drop 20 lbs, but I am happy about that now even though I wanted magic results right away!

I am planning a graduation trip too, but we are going to the Mall of America because I haven't been there for 2 years, almost 3! I want to be at a happy for me weight when I go there so I can shop for new wardrobe clothes! I set a goal of 135, but if I get to 145 and feel happy and comfortable there, than I wont pressure myself as much to lose, but to maintain!

Good luck on your goal, and you will look cute in that bikini! Check out the 20-somethings forum and meet others with similar goals and lifestyles.
