HI All!!! Recovering Chocoholic here!!

  • I just created an account here after reading such inspirational posts that have been made here in the last 6 mos. or so! It's nice to see there are people out there who have lost weight!! I have recently given up eating all the chocolate I can get my hands on. It was bordering on obsession. I am learning to control myself in that area and have a few little nibbles and be done - not 2 king sized candy bars like before....

I started this weight loss journey at 160 pounds on Nov. 26. I am already down to 151 and over the moon about it!!! I am aiming for 135 by my anniversary, Feb. 22. At that point, I plan on reassessing a new goal and aiming for that. I prefer making baby-steps to my big goal of just being comfortable in my own skin. I am not sure what number that will register on the scale, but I think registering in the "Normal" range on the BMI scale will put my mind at ease.

What finally made me decide that enough was enough was when I checked my BMI and found that I was just 3 pounds away from being considered Obese. That shocked me, because I figured that I "Just had a few pounds to lose". When I first got married, I was all of 105 pounds - so I have gained 55 pounds over the last 12 years or so. That put things in perspective for me and gave me the push that I needed to make a change for myself.

What do I want to get out of this weight loss:

    1. Feel Sexy with my hubby and not constantly worried about if I look too fat when I am naked.
    2. I feel that my Butt is too big. Looking forward to that being gone!!!
    3. Lose weight in a sensible way - not just a starvation or fad diet.
    4. Overall feeling good about myself when I am out and about.
    5. Fit into some of the cute jeans that I used to be able to wear years ago.

Anyhow -thank you all for your time and for the wonderful posts you have all made!!!!
  • redhead ...

Congrats on your current weight loss that in itself is a great accomplishment !!
  • Hey there and welcome! I hear ya on the obese thing...I was obese when I started.

Good luck with your goals, you can do it!!!
  • Welcome fellow chocoholic!
Hi redhead! Congrats on the sizable weight loss you've already had! Why don't you join us in the weekly chat thread as you progress?

That's a good solid plan you have there. I myself have a terrific chocolate habit , controlled only by not having any in the house. I go once a month to a terrific Belgian handmade chocolate place and buy a couple of pieces that I eat right away .

Christmas is going to be tricky. I have two or three clients who will give me boxes of this same terrific chocolate - I work in the neighbourhood the store is in.

I can't bear to give it all to the food bank or friends so I know I'm going to sin but I will get back on track in January.

  • Yeah, this month's end will be hard since i have my birthday and xmas 2 days apart. Trying to convince myself that i don't need to make fudge.
  • A Big Thanks for your replies!!!
HI All! Thank you for all your wonderful words!

Thinnythighs - good luck on not making the fudge - it's one of my weaknesses! I baked all the Christmas cookies this year and out of 12 batches, I only ate 2 cookies total. That's a record for me!

Mudpie - I will try that weekly chat thread. Sounds fun!!! You will see me there!

Goinforthegold and Ilene - Thanks for the big vote of confidence!!!

Now that the weight loss has slowed a bit (you know how you always lose that first 5 or so pounds quickly) I will need the encouragement to keep pushing forward! Definitely looking forward to that weekly chat!
