Self Talk

  • My BP dropped and My first thought was Fritos. With Money in my hand I sauntered over to the machine to stare the fried corn down. These are my chip of choice Deep fried slightly sweet when the carbs convert to sugar through mastication they get sweeter.

    I stared at the bag for 2 minutes and I asked myself. "is there something better that's salty that you can have? Cottage cheese has salt I answered. and with that I turned my back on the bad choice and went for the good one with a green tea chaser!

    Its hard when you're used to reasoning out why its ok to have the unsuccessful choice, reasoning out the better one!

  • Kier, I had a similar experience yesterday--at work where my choices are pretty limited. I craved something to CRUNCH! I thought what I could get & decided that peanuts would be okay--They crunch & have protein! I went to the vending machine & the darn thing ate the change I had & didn't give me anything. All I had left were $5 & $20 bills, so dug in my desk drawer to find I had a 100 calorie mini bag of popcorn--so popped it and CRUNCHED on that. Not as much protein, but definitely less calories.
