New here! Introducing myself

  • Hi everyone! I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Jamie, I am 24. I am a stay at home mom to 2 beautiful little girls, ages 2 1/2 and 6 months.

A little about my weight history.....
I started becoming overweight my junior year in high school and in college it just got worse because I was in nursing school and spent the majority of my time studying with my head in the books. I had no time to even think about keeping a track on my weight. I didn't realize how much I was gaining.
I was about 210 lbs when I got married in May 2003. I got pregnant with my first child in October 2004 and was about 225 at that time. When I went into the hospital to have her, I weighed in at a whopping 255.

That was a huge wake up call for me. I was disgusted with my body and myself so after she was born I started working on losing the weight. I did really well and in the first year after she was born, I lost overall about 70 lbs. It was awesome! Every pound I lost motivated me to keep on going.

Then when my daughter was 13 months old I became pregnant again. I ended up gaining a lot more weight during the pregnancy than I wanted to....about 60 lbs and I hve no idea how that happened...*sigh*.
My 2nd daughter was born this past June. When I went in the hospital to have her I was weighing around 235.

I still haven't lost all of the weight I gained during my 2nd pregnancy. Right now I am at 210. My first goal is to get back to 170, which was the weight I was shortly before I got pregnant with my 2nd baby. Then my ultimate goal is to get to at least 150. I think I would be happy at that weight, but we'll see once I get there....!!

Anyway, I am very much looking foward to start seeing some weight coming off, but I know I need to learn a lot and stay motivated. I look foward to getting to know you all!
  • Welcome aboard! I am new too! You can do it! The best way is to make a plan and stick to it! you can do it!
  • Welcome to the board. There are a lot of young moms in this forum so lots of people you can relate too. What type of plan are you follow? You'll find lots of support here. Good Luck!
  • Hi there! Welcome to the board, you'll love it here
I'm a sahm, as well.. I have 1 daughter, Alexis (20 months old).. and 20 months later, I'm STILL working off my pounds from her! I guess it's not considered 'baby weight' anymore, huh ..
Good luck, you can do it!!!
  • Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!

RememberHowToSmile ~ I'm not following any specific type of plan right now, just trying to pay more attention to what I eat and make sure to get in SOME sort of exercise every day.
I am looking into Weight Watchers, though. Everyone I know that has done it has had a lot of success with it, so I am interested in maybe trying that.
  • i'm another sahm, i'm 27 with a 2 yr old and a 7 month old. and i finally lost the last nagging 10 pounds of baby weight from the first baby.
you can do it too hun
  • Hello I am also new. 29 will be joining the 30s club soon hehe. I am about 95lbs over weight according to the "ideal weight charts". But I only want to lose about 75. I think I could be real happy with that. I exercise daily and am going to more seriously start watching my diet as well. I have lost 9lbs just by exercising (something I NEVER did) in the past month and a half, so if I can do it I know you can do it too. We will do it together, thats what we are all here for. Good Luck to you and to all of us!
Be sure to set your goals small until you reach your ultimate, its much easier to set a 10lb loss and reach for it than rather say 50lbs and feel you will never get to it.
