Thin4Life - Week of 11/26/07

  • Hello everyone. I trust all of you had a good Thanksgiving. Mine was great--loved seeing the family. I did all right with dinner food, but desserts...hmmm we will not discuss those.

Did I tell you that I made a pumpkin pie with tofu? I was trying to make something healthier. Well, forget that recipe!

Black Friday was not that successful. I think I'll be doing more of my shopping online this year. This Saturday is a bus trip with a bunch of women to a huge outlet mall a few hours from here--Sawgrass Mills. There are other "Mills" shopping center around the country. Potomac Mills in Virginia, Olney Mills in Maryland, etc. It's usually a lot of fun just being with the other women.

DH ran a 1/2 marathon yesterday. He said he felt pretty good (remember, he had knee surgery in June). It was just too hot for distance running. Our humidity is up here and not comfortable at all.

Melissa, I am so glad that your surgery went well. I would imagine that you would feel stiff and sore. Like you I would not be a good candidate for sitting.

Lori, how was your trip? I hope it went well.

Pam, you and your husband had much to be thankful for. I hope that he is progressing well.

    Hello to Susan!
  • Hi girls! My trip started off really bumpy. I am in West Palm Beach today and am supposed to travel to Andros Island (in the Bahamas) tomorrow but I forgot my passport! So I am having it overnighted and not going over until the afternoon instead of the morning and now it pushed my whole trip a day. I was supposed to get home Friday night but now I won't be home until Saturday night Thanksgiving was good, I didn't over-eat. Well maybe a little on dessert but it was yummy!

Lisa - I actually did really well on Black Friday and got everything on my list, although the friend I went with did not get everything on his. How do you make pumpkin pie with tofu?!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

    PS Dial-up stinks!
  • Lori, bummer about the passport. The last time I was going OCONUS, I kept having nightmares that I would forget my passport. Checked it 10 times before I went to the airport. I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving.

The pumpkin pie is the same, except that tofu is substituted for the eggs and milk. It did not taste great though. DH said with lots of Cool Whip Free on it, it was all right.
  • Hi Ladies!

Every day I get a little bit more mobile and am finding it difficult to not do too much. I'm able to walk around pretty good although not at the pace I'm used to so in that area I'm still a little slow. I keep forgetting it's only been a little over 2 weeks since my surgery! The bruising on my abdomen is almost gone but the area is still pretty tender. I'm sure it's going to take some time for things to "settle in". Overall though I have to say I'm feeling pretty good!

I didn't go out shopping on Black Friday but am hoping to get out and about over the next few weeks to take care of some shopping.

I didn't do all that bad with eating on Thanksgiving and so far with being home I've been doing pretty good. I'm working on drinking more water and eating healthy and staying on somewhat of a schedule. Monday I put on jeans and they felt good! I didn't have to "suck in my gut" so that was a NSV for me. I haven't stepped foot on the scale and don't know that I will anytime soon. I'm thinking about heading to my WW meeting next Wednesday to check in with my buddies.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that everyone is doing well! I'll check in again!
  • Melissa, I'm so glad you're improving every day. Hooray for the NSV. More water and healthy eating are always good things.
