PinkFish is ready to dive in!

  • So after peeking around here for a couple of weeks I've decided I can come out. My name is Chelsea and I'm really excited to turn my life around.

    A little about me:
I'm 23, recent film studies graduate. I've been unemployed since August, but was just offered a job before Thanksgiving. Hopefully starting that soon!

I was always at the top of the charts for weight as a child, but never overweight until middle school. By high school I was 200 pounds, but swam competitively all four years, never losing significant weight. First year of college I ballooned to 232, by my third year I was at an all time high of 259. I've been dropping each school year since, all the way to 198 this past February (my fifth year). I didn't have another goal in mind and puffed up to 209. Every summer I gain weight from living with my folks, this year was no different, except that I continued to live at home after summer ended. With no employment or car I spent most of fall in the house & eating. Now I'm at 248, disgusted, and weak. My new job is in guest service, so lots of people will see me like this, but hopefully not for long.

Anyway, I work part-time at a pool, does anyone have a good re-beginner's workout?
  • Hi Chelsea!

Good luck with your weightloss! I LOVE swimming...Just to self conscious still LOL.
  • Hello!!! Welcome!!!

Sounds like you're prett active already. Is there maybe a swim program or something you can join? I love running as well, it's a great workout. Strength training is very important too, because it builds up that muscle mass that burns off calories.

Do you have an eating plan as well?

You'll find lots of support here. I recommend the 20-somethings support group as well. Super helpful.
  • Thanks for the welcomes

Mary Yes! A fellow water fiend! Go for that swim I'm definitely not a fan of putting myself out there at the beach...once I get in the water I stay!! The pool I attend is my high school's, I teach swim lessons and everyone has seen me since second grade, so I guess its more natural...

Cats tongue I was active...can't wait to be back in the swing of things. One thing I never picked up was strength-training, but I plan on trying it ASAP (I'm starting back to the gym tomorrow).

My plan right now is to limit my calorie intake (I'm thinking 1300-1700), attempt to incorporate/cook more vegetables and make healthy carbohydrate choices, and get back to moving. And hang out on here, it seems like a really great site!!
  • Hiya! Cool username and swimming is so fun! I miss having my pool! I am new too. woohoo newbies!
