Can you figure this out?

  • Can you figure this out?

A girl has 5 siblings (6 Children total). She has 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her mom has given birth/been pregnant 2 times. Her mom has 3 children and her father has 5. Her father has only “fathered” 3 children yet all 5 of his children are his.

*there are no twins or multiple births

I feel like I am leaving out a "key" piece of information, but maybe you can figure this out.
  • So this is all I can come up with...

The mother had her first child from a previous relationship. She then met the "father" who had two children from a previous relationship. Together, they had "the girl". Then they adopted 2 children. And then the father adopted the mother's first born so that he/she would be "his".

    Yes? No? Maybe?
  • Cookie Monster, Not bad, but not right..lol If they adopted 2 children then the mother would have 4 children though. So there is one hole in your answer.
I like your thinking. I will post the answer after a couple people try to answer.
  • Possible scenario
    One scenario:

    Mom adopted one
    Father adopted two, bio-fathered one
Mom & Father met; bio-partents of two
    Total 6 kids;
5 kids are legally children of the father
3 kids are legally children of the mother
    All six are siblings

  • 3 of them are half siblings?
  • OK Here is the answer Bill Blue eyes is pretty much right...

Mom & Dad had 2 bio children
    Dad adopted 2 children
    Mom adopted 1 child
Dad fathered 1 child (Different mother)
