Egg Sustitute Question

  • G,day I was wondering if some one could help me, in some of the recipes they call for an egg sustitute I can,t find it here downunder so I want to know can I use normal eggs instead and if I can in what measures. Thanks for any help...Juls
  • Egg whites will work. Egg substitutes are mainly egg whites with some additives for color and appearance.

Thank you so much for the information. My husband and I were wondering about that. Why pay the extra cost for the egg beaters when I can just eat egg whites. Gives me more days a week to enjoy eggs. Also, give me another food to eat.
  • Thanks for the help Suzanne, so if the recipe calls for half a cup and so on how many egg whites would I use, sorry to be a pain. JULS

I believe you use the same amount of egg whites as the egg substitute you are supposed to use. So if it calls for 1/4 cup substitute, measure out 1/4 cup egg whites.
  • Thanks for the help Lori..

  • I find that using 2 egg whites to every 1 yolk is a nice compromise. I can't tell the difference then. I think the egg substitute has a conversion chart on the side of the box (1/4 cup substitute equals blah blah egg white) but I don't use substitute so I couldn't tell you what that ratio is.
  • Laughing at my goofy self. I see you got the ratio answer in a previous post.
  • if you will need it a lot, just order it online.
