New to this forum - need some assistance

  • Hi everyone,

I am a 33 year old woman recently diagnosed with Hoshimoto Hypothyroidism and Im struggling to get this extra weight off. I have been on my medication for roughly 40 days and my other symptoms are starting to diminish but the weight isnt even starting to come off. Just wanted to know if there was anyone else out here that might have some suggestions. I am getting back into the gym. I was so tired there for awhile and barely made it out of bed to work everyday so I missed some time at the gym. I am getting back into it though. I never really ate badly to begin with so that isnt an issue either. I really need some support and possibly some advice on getting some jumpstart on getting rid of this extra 60 pounds I am lugging around. Please help!

  • I am also dealing with hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed in May and the past few months have been up and down due to trying to get me on the right level to regulate it. The last two or so months were NOT good as I was not on enough of a dose and I was dead tired all of the time. Not much fun and not helpful if you need energy to exercise! I think I am at a good level now as my energy has returned and other symptoms have subsided a bit.

Check out the dieting with obstacles section of the forum. There are people there who are dealing with this condition and give great support. Of course join us here as well!

    Good luck.
  • Hi and welcome!
I have hypothyroidism too! I was diagnosed when I was 18 and I had gained 45 pds! When I started taking Eutirox (125 mgs) all my symptoms dissapeared except weight, it is the most difficult one and it didnīt go just with the meds, I had to change the way I ate. I had never had problems with weight and ate kind of healthy (of course I had unhealthy things like people with no weight issues once in a while). But I had to start watching what I put in my mouth, all my life changed in terms of food!
If you start counting calories or just eating healthier the weight will go.. itīs harder but it will go..
Itīs great that youīre back in the gym... itīs really helpful and it gives you energy!

    Good luck!
