frustrated trying to find a good dvd workout...

  • Hey guys...

So far I've been doing great dropping pounds on the treadmill, but I know sooner or later I"m going to hit a plateau on that machine due to a limited number of speed options...

I've been researching amazon and other places (including this site) for some good workouts that make u S.W.E.A.T. here. I already got Kathy Smith's "cardio knockout" since it featured an old favorite workout called "Aerobox" the other day in the mail (it's a mix of boxing in mid-air and jump rope segments).

I was thinking of checking out a salsa dvd or a belly dancing dvd, since I enjoy low-impact aerobics but ones that make u sweat and work out HARD. While some people I know would want to check these styles out for correct posture and form, my interest would be finding a salsa/belly dance dvd that is a superb cardio workout (not so much of a muscle workout). Any recommendations?

BTW-- has anyone ever tried Rope Sport dvds (www.ropesport.com)? It's essentially jump roping dvds but u burn 27 calories a minute and/or up to one thousand calories for an hour's worth of jump ropin'.

    Thanks!!
  • Are you a subscriber to a movie service like netflix or blockbuster where you can try them before you buy? It's helped me.
  • Teawithsunshine,

I can't recommend a dvd but collagevideo is a great place to buy workout dvds. You can review a clip with every one.

  • I use Sharon Mann and Caribbean Workout -- I used to watch them on Fittv -- but I don't have cable anymore, so I'm not sure they're on anymore. But I have the DVD's now, and most of their workouts are low impact and get a good sweat going. I also like the 10 Minute Solutions line of videos -- they come in a few different ones. I agree about getting Netflix or Blockbuster is a good idea too. You can check your libraries too -- my libraries all have pretty good collections.
  • Personally, I love the Firm! They get to the point without being so cheesy! They do areobics and weights all in one.
  • Get the "Crunch" series!!! Ellen Barrett does the pilates and yoga/pilates blends and they create quite the sweat! Plus she's not one of those really annoying video trainers. They have dance ones too. Has anyone tried the "Hip Hop Abs" series? I saw it on TV, but I don't want to buy it if it sucks.

I have the Hip Hop Abs series and I love it! It's so much fun and it really works well!
