Hello everyone!

  • Hello everyone! I just happened to bump into this site by accident and loved it so much that I decided to join. I can't wait to meet all of you and hopefully make a couple of friends.

Just to let you know about me, I'm just barely turned 20 and I'm a sophmore in college. Ever since I graduated high school, its seems like my weight has just sky rocketed to a point where I really need to do something about it. I gained about 30 -35lbs in the last year. I had been under so much stress that my weight got out of control.

I've always been somewhat of a "big" girl or atleast felt that way. Now that my parents are plagued with health problems due to their weight, I have become more aware of my own body and just how unhealthy my body is. I'm trying hard to change my lifestyle and hopefully lose the weight I packed on this previous year.

Sorry for that long story...I got a tad bit carried away!
  • Hey CherryLuv!

Its so great that you are thinking of this as a lifestyle change...that has been the main factor behind my success.

It can be rough to lose weight in college, depending on where your meals are coming from, but it CAN be done.

Step 1 - does your college have a fitness center? Now, paying $40 a month for my gym, I realize how I REALLY should have used the fitness center at my school. It is a part of your tuition, so take advantage!

Step 2 - You're ahead of the game if you have your own apartment or access to a kitchen, but you can still find healthy choices in a dining commons area. Try to get veggies, whole grains, and the leanest meats you can find, whereever you are eating.

Most of all, keep posting! We have a group of college students who post in their own thread - maybe start there?

Can't wait to hear more from you.
